    3. I finally got a listing of all my websites (at least the majority - grin) all i one place, as a few of you have requested. Rather than post them here, I will give you the URL where they are indexed, so you can browse at your leisure: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/links/MAK.html Please note that all my genealogical sites are linked to their counterparts at: AGHP ALHN WLHN USGenWEb I do not believe in duplication of effort, but working cooperatively. I would ask that if you are a CC and have a site which I have currently linked to mine, that you would please add a reciprocal link to your site to help fellow researchers. If you have a site and would like it linked, please send an email to makkuehl@yahoo.com and I will be happy to put it in the appropriate site. While there are many links, the migrations links for the appropriate county and the below links would be the best links to add to your sites: AdamsCoWI Links: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/WLHN/AdamsCoWI/adams.html CalumetCoWI Links http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/WLHN/CalumetCoWI/calumet.html ClarkCoWI Links http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/WLHN/ClarkCoWI/clark.html JacksonCoWI Links http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/WLHN/JacksonCoWI/jackson.html JuneauCoWI Links http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/WLHN/JuneauCoWI/juneau.html LaFayetteCoWI Links http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/WLHN/LaFayetteCoWI/lafa.html MonroeCoWI Links http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/WLHN/MonroeCoWI/monroe.html PortageCoWI Links http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiportag/links/portage.html SheboyganCoWI Links http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/WLHN/SheboyganCoWI/sheboy.html WoodCoWI Links http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/links/wood.html I wish you continued success in your genealogical efforts. 1. [WIWOOD] ARQUETTE (Joseph) - 1836
    2. Transcriber
    3. Posted on: Wood Co. Wi Bios Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/WoodBios/101 Surname: ARQUETTE, BRADBY, DAWES, KENISTER, NOWATNEY, ROBBIE ------------------------- Joseph ARQUETTE Biography printed in the Biographical History of Clark and Jackson Counties, Wisconsin published by The Lewis Publishing Co., 1891 pages 378 & 379 Joseph ARQUETTE, hotel keeper at Lynn, Clark County, was born at Beardstown, IL, Feb 22, 1836, the second son of a family of seven children, four of whom grew up, three sons and one daughter. Mitchell ARQUETTE, the father, was born in LaPrairie, Canada, one of a family of four sons and three daughters, all with one exception remaining in Canada. His grandfather was one of the early pioneers near Montreal, and was a farmer. Mitchell ARQUETTE's children were: John, who is living in the town of Richfield, Wood County, this State, and Mary, now the wife of George Dawes, in Necedah, Juneau County, this State. John AARQUETTE has been twice married, and has three sons and two daughters. Mitchell ARQUETTE was employed by the Hudson Bay Company for ten years, and was a man who endured great hardships in the early years of his life, between eighteen and thirty. He was past middle life when he married Margaret ROBBIE, the daughter of a Frenchman of great mechanical and engineering skill. He became a citizen of the United States when about thirty years of age, or soon after he quit the Hudson Bay Company. Thereafter he was employed about twenty yers by the American Fur Company, in their trapping and hunting dealing with the Indians. Here is a demonstration that a life in the woods and in camp, with its hardships, does not always mean a short duration of life, as he lived to ninety-six years of age, retaining his mental faculties almost unimpaired to the last. But he was preceded by a still more remarkable instance of longevity, his father having reached the extreme old age of 104 years! Joseph ARQUETTEs brothers and sisters were born in the United States. Joseph married Mary Ann BRADBY, of Kilbourn City, WI, October 16, 1857, when twenty-one years of age, and they have five children living, namely: Carrie M, born May 4, 1860; Emma, born Dec 1, 1863; James F, born Apr 15, 1865; Celia J, Sep 28, 1867, and Mary E, October 20, 1872. Carrie married Joseph NOWATNEY, since deceased, and has four children, viz.; Earl C, born June 13, 1881; Grace H, born Jul 22, 1883; Joseph G, born Jan 4, 1885, and Mary Maud, Jul 12, 1887. Emma married George KENISTER and has the following named children: George E, born Apr 18, 1883; Joseph H, Jun 24, 1884, Bert A, Nov 27, 1886; Stella, born Jul 17, 1890. The remaining members of the family are single. Mrs ARQUETTE's mother, whose age is seventy-four years, is living with the family, enjoying good health; her husband died at the age of seventy-two years. Mr ARQUETTE, whose name heads this sketch, during the late war enlisted in Company C, Fifty-eighth Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and served to the end of that great struggle, being discharged in the autumn of 1865, at Columbus, OH.

    3. For all of you at ALHN (and you know who you are - grin) who beat me over the head last week that the WI Migration pages were not working, I have a pleasant surprise. They are NOW up and working. HURRAH!!! At least my 43 counties are (grin), and the rest of WI should be done most ricky tick... To submit, click submit on any page and follow the instructions, to check a county for your ancestor's surname click view on that county page, and the submitted names will appear alphabetically. Each place you put your ancestor moved to, they will automatically appear in that county, IF YOU DO IT CORRECTLY. NOW, if your ancestor is not there, do NOT NOT NOT send me an email stating that your ancestor was in that county and why aren't they there. They aren't going to be there unless YOU or someone else submitted them. That is how this site works... Now, having said that, I am sure to get at least three beligerent emails anyways (grin)... Also, if you find a broke link, send it to me private, instead of to the mailing list. email address is makkuehl@yahoo.com The URLs are below. Have a great time... 3. Posted on: Wood Co. Wi Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/WoodObits/364 Surname: CROFT, HART, HOFSTATER, LOBDELL ------------------------- Mrs Susan HOFSTATER Obit published in the Wood County Reporter, Volume 40 Number 5, Thursday, February 4, 1897, Page 1 Surnames: CROFT, HART, HOFSTATER, LOBDELL >From a recent copy of the Rock County Herald, published at Luverne Minnesota, we find the following notice of Mrs Susan HOFSTATER's death, who formerly resided in Centralia. Mrs Susan HOFSTATER, whose illness was briefly mentioned in the Herald last week, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs A C CROFT, in this city, Wednesday morning, January 27th, at the advanced age of 79 years. The Herald is indebted to a friend of the family for the following brief history of her life: Mrs Susan HOFSTATER was the second daughter of a family of ten children born to Stephen and Polly HART, and was born at Newton, Sussex County, NJ, September 7, 1817. Removed with her parents to Trumbull Co, OH in 1830, where on New Years, 1834, she was united in matrimony to James HOFSTATER, who with her eldest son, one of the "Boys in Blue" died in 1862, victims of the Civil War then raging. Two brothers, Messrs. S B and J M HART of Stoughton, Dane Co, WI, survive her, both of whom hastened to her dying bed at the first alarm. Early in the autumn of 1849 her husband decided to cast his fortune in the then young, but vigorously growing State of Wisconsin, and the family removed to Jefferson Co, WI, where they resided until 1857, then removing to Juneau Co, WI and eventually to Centralia, Wood Co, WI. Soon after the advent of the iron horse in the infant city of Luverne she came to Minnesota, where she has resided most of the time since 1877. Mrs HOFSTATER was the mother of five children, three daughters and two sons, of whom but two survive her, Mrs Mary LOBDELL, of Jasper, and Mrs A C CROFT, of this city. Possessed with many of the traits that characterize her day and generation, such as indomitable courage and convictions that once founded were as unshaken as her native hills, yet she was in her family relations the most patient and indulgent of mothers, the steadfast and staunchest of friends of all deserving her confidence and sympathy. Her heroic courage and indomitable will made her a tower of strength in every community in which she lived, and her sudden, though not altogether unexpected demise will sadden many hearts in her old Wisconsin home and elsewhere. Her convictions of religious duty led her long years since to unite with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she has long been a consistent and honored, though quiet and undemonstrative, member. For more than forty years the writer of this sad and most unworthy sketch has known her intimately and well, and bears honest testimony to her sterling purity and worth, and when her loved but pulseless form shall be consigned to its last resting place in beautiful Maplewood, and the cold earth conceals her forever from our sight, with tearful eyes and tenderest memory of her goodness, we will hone that somehow, somewhere in the great unknown that lies hidden from our feeble sight, we shall meet again and renew the ties so suddenly--so rudely broken by the grim tyrant--Death. Brief funeral services conducted by Reverend J. W. Cornish will be held at the residence this afternoon, after which the remains will be conveyed to the Methodist Episcopal church where public services will be held. The interment is at Maplewood. Gauthier's Corners This name appears as a local news column heading in Pilot,Oct 21,1902. "N Guthier" is listed on Marsh. 1902 as the owner of property in SE sec 6 and NW sec 8, Hansen Township. Despite the difference in spelling between the two sources, it seems safe to infer that "Gauthier" and "Guthier" stand for the same surname and that the news column heading refers to the corners at this location (where now co trunk E crosses a township road).
