We have had some queries in both Wood and Portage Counties about adoptions and orphans, and as we found answers, decided there was a need for this new page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/history/adopt/adopt.html It is NOT restricted to Wood and Portage, but rather statewide resources... as sometimes the county did not have the facilities. If you have anything to contribute to help researchers looking for adoptions and orphans, please let me know. Thanks. R/S MAK __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? FREDRICK THOMSON Susan M. SIMMONS was born in Fond du Lac county, WI, Nov 15, 1863, and died at her home in Stratford, WI. April 18, 1918, age 54 years, 6 months and 3 days. She was married to Fredrick J THOMSON on her 19th birthday (1882) and soon after moved to Stevens Pont where they lived for many years and then came to Stratford, where they have since lived. To them were born three girls and three boys. Mrs THOMSAON was confined to her bed for about three weeks. Her sickness caused her much distress, having heart trouble, nothing seemed to relieve her only temporarily. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and this organization did her honor by their presence as a body at the funeral. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church Saturday at 10 oclock a.m. where she held her membership for some years. A large concourse of friends were present. There remains a husband, six children, one Edwin, who is in France standing by the colors, and two brothers and one sister, who mourn her loss.
Drats and rats, I just posted all the obits to the wrong board, so you will see them again, posted to the correct board... SORRY about that... I guess I was still sleeping when I put these up... DRATS AND RATS... Standing by the colors is a reference to serving his county, as it was 1918, it was WWI and he was sent to France, probably with the WI Regiment... This should be easy to check on a WWI WI roster... R/S MAK --- WIWOOD-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
