    2. MAK
    3. Little did I know, but tonight I had a big surprise waiting in my in-basket - I clicked open a file that Sandy Ciszewski sent me as an attachment - all the email said was she thought I might like it - to my surprise, it was a picture of my paternal grandpa (taken when I was about 3 years old) and a brief article about his retirement. Tears sprang to my eyes, as I did not have any photos of him as I remembered him... And he passed into the life beyond in 1967 - so to see his photograph was quite unexpected, yet instant recognition and lots of love ... If you want to see if I look like him (grin), I put up a page and posted to the Message Board, too - http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/MAK-roots/Kuehl/bios/emil-k.htm http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.wood&m=1473 Thank you Sandy for being so thoughtful and giving... It was the bestest "for no reason" gift... R/S MAK __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo! Personals. http://personals.yahoo.com

    3. Dear List, The Milwaukee Archdiocese has recently put cemetery information on its web site. You can search by surname and also find the names of others buried in the same plot. It provides information on date of death, date of burial, age, marital status and address at time of death, funeral home, name of cemetery and location of grave. So far, I have found information on persons buried at Calvary, Holy Trinity, and Holy Cross cemeteries. There may be others. It says that more data is going to be added. Many Wisconsin families have had ancestors or relatives with Milwaukee area connections and will want to check this valuable resource at http://www.cemeteries.org/genealogy/genealogy01.asp Happy Hunting! 2. MAK
    3. FYI: Forwarded from another list: The free lecture on Indian Mounds in Wisconsin, which was to have been offered the week of the September 11 bombings, has been rescheduled. Lake Park Friends in Milwaukee is bringing in the authors of the recent book about Wisconsin mounds, Robert Birmingham and Leslie Eisenberg. Eisenberg just returned from New York and was quoted in today's Milwaukee Journal in an article about the difficulties of identifying the many dead there in the World Trade Center collapse. She acts as a forensic pathologist for the State Historical Society and volunteered her time for several weeks to assist in the extraordinary efforts necessary following this disaster in New York. Birmingham also works for the SHS of Wisconsin, as the state anthropologist. Please mark your calendar for 7 pm on October 17. That's next Wednesday. The lecture will be given in the community room of Lake Park Pavilion, where the Bistro restaurant occupies the first floor. The Pavilion is off the east end of Newberry Blvd, a few blocks from UWM. Parking is free, the lecture is free too. For more information, please call Delores, past president of the Friends, at 414) 332-0994. ===== =========================== MAK = "Mar sea ah Ann Keel" WI ACS http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/ MAKs Sites http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/links/MAK.html =========================== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Surnames: MAGEE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DGC.2ACI/1462 Message Board Post: Hello! I am researching my gr-grandfather's family, and have reason to believe there are some links in Wood County. His name: Levi Alonzo Magee, born 1870 in Ireland (don't know where, still looking for that one). Levi, also known as "Lon" or "Alonzo" (but rarely "Levi") lived in Adams County from around 1909 to at LEAST 1934. He married Charlotte Adella Cook in January of 1909 in Dell Prairie (just outside of WI Dells). They had 11 children before Charlotte passed away in 1934. The children (my grandmother included) were either sent to live with relatives, or the older ones went off to fend for themselves. From his 2 daughters, Lillie and Edna, I have gained some information, but not enough to help me in my search. I DO KNOW, however, that Levi remarried (I do not know her name, and neither do his daughters). Levi died in 1959, and I have been told (but have not been able to confirm) that he is buried in the state cemetery near Arkdale. I also know that he had a brother Rufus and a sister Lillian that were in the US (unknown about his parents or if there were other siblings). If you know a Magee (probably near the WI Rapids or Arkdale areas), or have run across Levi in your own searches, please contact me. I thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

    3. To Clean and fix tombstones. Just went to a monument dealer to find out about cleaning and fixing sandstone tombstones. To clean use a dish soap such as Dawn. Soak the tombstone with water. Then pour the soap on and use a gentle scrub brush, then wash off with water. Never use vinegar when the tombstone is not in the sun. It will color the tombstone. There is no good way they told me to fix a sandstone tombstone without damaging it more. They said the best way was to lay a slab of cement on the ground the size of the tombstone and when the cement is almost dry then lay the tombstone on it. Marlys nothergrandma@charter.net
