R/S MAK http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood ++++++++++++++++= Good Morning -- I'd appreciate any LACASSE (CASSE) names you can find. I am compiling a genealogical dictionary of that family and am having really problems tracking them down in the States. In Canada, they are pretty much contained in Quebec, with just a few identified so far in Ontario. But every day I find them somewhere else in the US. The most recent SSDI lists 744 persons named LACASSE in the most current issue. I started my compilation 6 or 7 years ago with the GAULIN family and so far have 25,000 of them. LACASSE appear to be more numerous. Anything you can find will be very helpful. Thanks in advance. Regards from sunny Florida, Edward H. Gaulin <ehgaulin@att.net>

I am looking for info. about Henry Neinas who lived in Fremont, Clark Co., WI. Most of my ancestors settled in Wood and Clark counties which border each other. I believe Henry Neinas started out in Wood Co. He was the second husband of my great grandmother, Alvina Plaul-Cole. She was about 25 years younger than him. His first family was all out of the home when she married him. They had a son together -- Edwin Neinas, who was six when his mother died (and Henry was about 74 at the time and I think died a few years later). Edwin ended up in an orphanage. Actually, I am related to Alvina and her first husband.

Not actually sure where either were born. Many of the emigrants used the country of origin as Austria only because of the Austro-Hungarian relationship. The accuracy of the census records was dependant upon who was providing the information, one of the children, a neighbor, etc. I don't have any information on the Winterhalters. Most of the information we have can be found at www.Andraska.org.

I am helping a good friend of mine Michele Curran trace her ancestry and have done a lot of research in German records. Andraska sounds like a Czech name but with the 1880 Census saying he was born in Baden I would have to say he was from southwestern Germany but the census taker could have been mistaken. Do you have any information as to when the Andraska family came over- I would imagine it would be thru New York or Philadelphia but haven't had time to investigate. Any info, would be appreciated. Also were Caroline Winterhalters parents a John Winterhalter and _________?
