In the Oshkosh Northwestern, Sat., April 25, 1885, Front Page there is a short notes column for Waukau. John Wines who has been learning the station agent business has been appointed at a station up north called Pike. Stevens Point Journal, Sat., Feb. 18, 1893, Pg 6 The marriage of Miss Sarah E. Packard and Lewis D. Stevens, both of this city, took place at the home of the bride's grandfather, Mr. John Wines, at Waukau, Wis., January 30, 1893, Rev. W. Cook, pastor of the Baptist church at that place officiating. The wedding took place at six o'clock in the afternoon, the newly married couple returning to this city, which they will make their future home. The bride is the daughter of A.O. Packard, and has many friends in this city, where she was raised. She has at different times been employed as teacher in our schools, and for two summers taught a private kintergarten. Mr. Stevens, who is now employed at Cook's foundry, has resided here for a number of years, and all who know the worthy couple will unit in wishing them much happiness. There is an obituary for Mrs. Sarah A. Wines from Waukau, mother of Mrs. Packard in the Stevens Point Journal on Saturday, April 25, 1908. She married John Wines in MI in 1846 and moved to Waukau in 1862. Her maiden name was Hurlbut. (Too long to transcribe the whole thing) Waukau Short Notes, Oshkosh Daily Northwestern, Sat., Sept. 3, 1898, Pg 7 John Wines of Neenah is making his aged mother Mrs. J. Wines a visit. Waukau Short Notes, Oshkosh Daily Northwestern, Sat., April 22, 1899, Pg 7 Mrs. John Wines came home on Tuesday after spending the winter in Neenah with her son Fred Wines. Waukau Personals, Oshkosh Daily Northwestern, Mon., Nov. 8, 1886, Front Page Mr. John Wines, telegraph operator at Fort Howard, is home on a visit while his dislocated elbow is healing. Oshkosh Daily Northwestern, Tues., March 9, 1897, Front Page Mr. John Wines died at the Northern hospital Sunday afternoon. He had been there for some months for treatment. He was over eighty years of age. The remains will be brought here for burial. Mrs. Wines has been living in Stevens Point with her daughter this winter. Hope this all helps!
