I am also a descendant of the Jacob Bates / Lydia Barnes line. My third great-grandmother was Polly Bates, daughter of Jacob and Lydia. She married Edwin Moffet, which by and by begat my mother. I have not yet joined the Bates Society, but hope to soon. I do not know much about the Bates family past Andrew, but stumbled on a site once by a man in Lydd. He said he'd be happy to take pictures if I wanted, sometime, of graveyards. Do you know anything about rumors of Clement Bates being related to John Lathrop or Oliver Cowdery? Stumbled on that at the local LDS FHC, and haven't found anything on it since. Anyway, nice to meet another family member, Later - Janna
