I am researching my ggg-grandmother, MELISSA WILLIAMS, who died in Omro, Wisconsin in October 1865. According to her husband's (Ambrose Williams) civil war records she is supposed to be buried in Omro Cemetery at the north end of her husband's lot. I have written to the Wisconsin Historical Society for a death certificate but they did not find her in the index at the state level. I was wondering if anyone on the list has an index for death certificates at the Register of Deeds office in Oshkosh. I would like to find out if there is a death certificate available at the county level before I send for one. Also, I would like to know if there is an index of probate records for 1865.
