I haven't been able to find the ship they came on, but I did find that they were buried at Winnebago Co. Cemetery; sect. 1 at 2750 County Red E. John's wife was Louisa Kueckhoefers. Children were Bertha (1854 in Prussia), Gustav (1849 in Prussia) and Frank (1867, Clayton Winnebago Co.), William (1859), Ernestina (1854 Winnebago) Louisa (1856, Winnebago) and Minnie Rosa (1864 in Winnebago....my Ggrandmother) In the 1886 City Directory for Oshkosh, John F. Steeps was living with his son, Frank, a grocer. Also in the 1886 directory were William Kueckhoefer and John Kueckhoefer (Maria's brothers or nephews?)
