    3. Rhonda, There is no record at the county level either. You might want to try contacting the cemetery records office: City of Omro, 205 S. Webster Ave., Omro, WI 54963 or their phone number is 920-685-7000. They may or may not have any more info to offer you but in 1865 it was not law to file vital records. Are you sure she died in Winnebago Co, WI? In 1860 & 1870 Absolam & Melissa Williams were in Spring Prairie, Walworth Co, WI...are you sure of the death of 1865? Both of these two were born in NY. The only Ambrose Williams I found was 29 in 1870 in Brunswich, Eau Claire Co, WI and then another in 1880 aged 43 yrs married to a Julia in Bridge Creek, Eau Claire Co, WI. Both of these men were born in Ohio. I did find your Ambrose Williams that served in the Civil War (enlisted 2/1865) and lived in Omro but didn't find a pension record with the cemetery info on it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. According to her husband's (Ambrose Williams) civil war records she is supposed to be buried in Omro Cemetery at the north end of her husband's lot. I have written to the Wisconsin Historical Society for a death certificate but they did not find her in the index at the state level. I was wondering if anyone on the list has an index for death certificates at the Register of Deeds office in Oshkosh. I would like to find out if there is a death certificate available at the county level before I send for one. > > Also, I would like to know if there is an index of probate records for 1865. > > Any information will be greatly appreciated.
