They are noted on the 1860 & 1870 WISC - Winnebago County Census. Nicholas & Johanna Opp were married in Brown County, Black-Wolf area, WI in Aug 9, 1872 and I also have found some information that they were later divorced on 6-14-1882 in Oshkosh, WI. They would be my 2nd great-grandparents. Johanna's parents are noted as being Michel and Fredericke Wirth or Witt. Their last name used to be Count Von Oppen. They owned a Castle. Peter Opp brought his entire family to America, just before the eldest son, John George was old enough to be drafted into the German army. The family came to America in a sailing ship, the Owego, requiring 27 days to cross the Atlantic from Havre to the port of Castle Garden, NY, 27 April 1857. In the book "German's to America, Emigrate Passenger Lists" page 455, Peter Opp and his family were found. Ship: Owego From: Havre To: New York Arrived: 23 April 1857 Opp, Peter--49 y/o Agnes--47 y/o ( maiden name was Agnes Meyer) George--19 y/o Catherine--17 y/o Johan--13 y/o (John Opp, born Sep 9, 1843-died Feb 3, 1931) Nicolas--7 y/o A letter received from Shellie Boots, written by Ethel Roper noted that Peter Opp's children were all born in Heddeshiem, Germany. The book lists them from the County "Hesse" in Germany and village unknown. All the passengers were listed as village unknown. Germans to America, Vol. 11 . . Apr 1857 - Nov 1857 Peter's son, John Opp, married Lydia Ann or Lidiana Opp born on Nov 24, 1845 in Pennsylvania. She was the daugher of Henry and Lovina Opp, Pennsylvania. It's noted that John and Lydia were 2nd cousins. Do you have any listings that could help me locate more information about Peter Opp and his family? Thanks. Linda Johnson
