His parents are given as Peter and Agnes, his birthplace is Prussia. Her parents were M. and F. Wirth. BUT Nikolaus Opp, son of Peter and Agnes (Meyer) born Heddesheim, Prussia married Wilhelmine Dreyer, daughter of Wilhelm and Christine (Knolle) on 13 Sept 1881, Winnebago County Marriage Records, vol. 6. This one was by a pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, F. H. Borsch. They had a female child, no name listed, on 14 April 1882. They were divorced in June 1882, County Court case 959. There is no divorce from Johanna in the index. Nicholas is living with his parents at the time of the 1880 census; no wife or children are listed in the household.
