Howdy Listers, Is anyone else working on the surname Sonnenberg in Winnebago or Fond du Lac counties? I'm not sure, but I think there may have been a couple of different family lines in this area, of which I'm researching one. My line starts with Friederick Sonnenberg (s/o Gottlieb) b. September 9, 1833. I think he had a couple of brothers that moved in and out of Oshkosh. Gotlieb and Christoph. In his 1879, marriage to Pauline SCHONECK, Gottlieb states that he had been previously married to a woman named Amalie RANTE. Widower. All three men used the spelling, SONNENBERGER in the 1870s, but over time, the name was shortened to SONNENBERG. My Friederick married Friedericke SCHROEDER b. May 1844. They married abt. 1862, but haven't found a marriage record, yet. The couple had 9 children. 1. Louise A. b. July 8, 1863 m. William Love 2. Oswald b. !866 m. Minnie Bergman 3. Reinhold b. August 1868 m. Bertha ? 4. Emma b. 1871 m. ? 5. Ida b. March 1873 m. Heinrich Meske 6. Clara b. 1875, died in 1881 7. Friederick John b. May 5, 1877 m. Ida ? 8. Alma b. February 1880 m. Arthur Pollnow 9. Edward b. February 27, 1882 m. Friedericke ? Friederick and Friedericke owned a large farm in Friendship, Fond du Lac County that was run by his sons after his death in 1896. Friederick is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh. I would like to connect to someone who might be able to help me with what ever happened to Friederick's wife Friedericke. I've been able to follow the kids pretty well through marriage and census records...but the mother has escaped me. LAST SIGHTING: In the 1919 Oshkosh city directory it is believed that Fredericke was found living at 112 E. Lincoln Ave. If this is the Fredericke Schroeder who married Friedrick Sonnenberg, she would be about 75 years old. By the 1920 listing however, she is no longer in Oshkosh. Also in town are her son Reinhold and his wife, Bertha, at 275 Scott. And Charles Sonnenberg also resides in Oshkosh for the 1919 directory listing at 2005 Oregon. Thanks ~Michelle
