Does anyone know Menasha history? Recently, I purchased The Post-Crescent’s book, Fox Cities Memories – A Pictorial History. On page 21, within the chapter titled Commerce and Industry, is a 1920 photograph of the Hotel Lenz, purported to be at Racine and Third Streets in Menasha. My maternal great-grandfather’s name was Ferdinand Lenz and he lived and died in Hilbert in Calumet County. His daughter, Anna Lenz, was my grandmother. She and her husband, my grandfather, John Voit, lived on Second Street in Menasha, just two blocks away from this hotel site. In doing my genealogy work, I have conducted extensive research into the history of Menasha and seeing this photo in the book was the first time I had ever encountered a business called the Hotel Lenz. I have already contacted the Menasha Historical Society, but am trying to cover all the bases. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. David Galassie
