I can try to get to the courthouse on Monday to look at the actual document. The Vol, Pg, & Doc is what one needs to find the record at the register of deeds office. Some of the WLGS members are going thru all the old index books and alphabetizing them. We have marriages in 4 volumes covering the years from 1848 - 1912. Death has only 1 volume right now...vol 2 is being worked on. Birth records have 2 volumes right now covering years 1831 - 1891. We have one divorce index covering 1850 - 1939. These publications are for sale. Birth index include location of record, child's name, parents names (mother's maiden if on record), and birthdate....we also have a mother's index to help aid in your search if you don't know who your women married. Death index has location of record, deceased name, and death date. Marriage index has location of record, bride & groom name and marriage date. Each person is in the book twice as it is alphabetized by both groom and bride.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CGC.2ACI/469.1.1.2 Message Board Post: I can't think of anything I could add to the book. I was around Rush Lake all the years I was growing up - but I lived in Ripon. So, I was more like a visitor - visiting my grandparents. I do know that my great great great grandfather John Nash and his wife Deanna Ward came to Nepeuskun Township in the year 1846. John had been imprisoned in Australia from 1831 til 1838 and then have to remain there another 7 years as part of his two 7-year terms - he was given a conditional pardon after the first seven but this required him to remain in Australia for the second term, even though he was free. He had gotten involved in what were called the Machine Riots (or the Swing Riots) of 1831 in England. This happened as a result of machinery taking over the work of the people and they were having very bad times because many were now out of work - John got involved and ended up in Australia. When he was finally allowed to leave he returned to England and got his family and moved to Nepeuskun Township where he purchased land in 1846. in a short time his daughter, who had married Steven Luker, followed him and they all lived there. There are many Nash's and Luker's buried in Nepeuskun as well as Penke, Wray, Kintz, Grambsch, Kliveter, Laatsch, Zech, Zellmer, Wessell, Reese, Otto, Raasch, Betry, Krebs and maybe some I don't remeber. All related in some way. I would definitely be interested in buying a copy of Myrtle's book when it is published. My grandparents - Mr. & Mrs Ferd Penke lived on Lake Road. Her brother was Howard Luker - 2 doors away. I recall people named Mitchell there somewhere. And I recall going with my grandpa to the store - I guess it would have been a General Store - I think the owner was John Schroeder (but don't quote me on that. I also remember Fred Gruetzmacher. I don't recall ever hearing of a church Anyway - keep me in mind for the book David

As for Coliss deer farm - I do not know where that it - I knew of som people named Corliss but I hhave been away for some time so not familiar with that. Rush Lake is a village - probably not more than 20 houses (certainly not 30) and a mill and a general store (when I was last there) It is located on Co Rd E north of Ripon (which is in Fond du Lac Co.) coming from Oshkosh direction also Co Rd E from the Berlin Highway. Rush Lake is what is called Nepeuskun Township - my ggg grandfather bought land there in 1846 when he came from England. There is a road going west which will cross Koro Road and if you turn there you will come to the Nepeuskun Cemetery a mile ot two north. The northern street inthe village is Lake Rd which will take you down to the Lake (Rush Lake). Less than a mile from the village on Grams Rd (which yurn off Lake Rd to the North and then turns back to Co E) and a farm there has what is called Rush Lake Cemetery or Krebs Cemetery- this one is in private property and has been almost totally destroyed by the canning company over the years. That is about all there is to tell about Rush Lake village. Hope this was of some help to you David

I know that The Frank Eno in Menasha 1870-1880 /Frank Eno Marshfield 1900-1910 are one in the same as it is recorded on my g. grandfathers obit as brother in Marshfield. I have Menasha land records for both Frank and Israel. Frank bought 40 acres on "Doty Island" and Israel was west of him towards Winchester. I lived in the area myself so I know a little of the geography. Fank is in 1870, Village of Menasha, pg. 3. with catherine. All girls in this family were named the same as in Israels family, this is why I knew they were brothers. ie; Lilly, Agnes, Cora, etc. 1880 , City of Menasha ED. 202 pg 8 (D). Can you tell me if it is possible to obtain the divorce record from Winnebago County for Frank and Catherine? I would like to send for a copy in hopes of finding where they were married to give me more clues. Thanx again and have a great Holiday! LeLani (ano@newnorth.net)

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CGC.2ACI/453.1 Message Board Post: I called Winneconne Village Hall and they don't keep death dates. Just plot owners. The reading you found her in was done by a volunteer and the Village Hall has a copy of this reading but that is the extent of their info too. It was required by law to file death records in Oct 1907 so it should have been filed. Although I have found some people in my research where their records were not ever filed after the law. The only other option is that she did died somewhere else and her body was brought back here to be buried next to her husband. Have you checked the 1910 Census to see if she lived elsewhere with a surviving child or other relative? The Winnebagoland Genealogical Society is currently working on indexing obituaries. They are currently working on 1915 - 1919. When this time frame is done they will be working on 1910 - 1914. Maybe by years end this will be complete? Without a date it would take too long to try and search for it. Obits were placed wherever they felt like putting them back then. And you could search 365 days of newspapers and find nothing. Did you contact Winneconne Public Library? Winneconne does have a weekly newspaper and they may have it indexed to some extent. Or it is only 52 weeks to search rather than 365 days. Obits from Winneconne didn't always make it to the Oshkosh papers either.
