NUTTALL, daughter of L. W. and Margaret Nuttall, in the eighteenth year of her age. The deceased was much respected and beloved in this community, and her loss is deeply felt. Just entering the paths of womanhood, she was suddenly stricken down, leaving parents, brothers and sisters, and hosts of friends, to mourn her departure. The lodge of Good Templars attended the funeral of their sister, and performed the last sad rites. ”And smiling angels lead her to those bowers. Where endless pleasures virtuous deeds repay.

Another bereaved family and vacant place by the fireside. This death, following so closely that of Miss Nuttall, and equally sudden, cannot have failed to impress all who attended the funeral, with the uncertainty of life, and the fact that youth and sound health do not guaranty our existence for a single day. We sincerely commiserate with both families in their affliction.

Since the time of the Apostles swine have been popularly supposed to be the abiding place of unclean spirits, and probably to this day devils continue to seize them in the form of trichinze spiralis, etc. Perhaps that was what was the matter with this particular porker, and maybe Jove, having a grudge against the evil spirit, tried his hand with a bolt, with remarkable success; as the hog, though killed dead as a door nail, was not disfigured any, thereby proving that it wasn’t the hog particularly that was aimed at by the inhabitant thereof.

R. LIDDLE, aged twenty-nine years. The busy Reaper, Death, has again visited us and this time he has cut down in her prime one who enjoyed life as but few enjoy it. A devoted wife, loving mother, and affectionate daughter and sister-her death leaves a blank in society and pain in many hearts. We are the more forcibly reminded of this by the very room in which we are writing this obituary notice-then a dwelling, now a printing office-resounded daily to the marry tones of her voice. Her cheerful disposition and sterling social qualities made it a favorite resort for the “young people”, who little thought that “TIL” would be soon be taken from their sides. Yet is remembrance of those virtues dear. Yet fresh the memory of that beauteous face. Still they call forth our warm affections dear, Still in our hearts retain their wanted place.
Looking for anyone with information on two sisters with surname Aiken who migrated from New York. They were probably married between 1840 and 1850 in or near Winnecoone, where their Mother Anna Bennett Aiken lived with their brother Ira F. Aiken. Thanks. Marillyn emjayak@aol.com
