    2. A Heniff
    3. Has anyone tried getting any vital statistic info. from N.Y., if so, did you have any success? Looking for a marriage license from 1869-1871, no success in finding same in Illinois where my ggrandparents 1st. child was born in 1871, she was born in N.Y. and believe he arrived port of N.Y. around 1869, so last chance of finding any marriage info. w/be in N.Y. Tried getting her birth records back in 2001 and was told flat out that birth records are confidential and they are prohibited by law from issuing copies to be used for genealogical purposes, if deceased need to sennd a certified copy of death cert. and they w/evaluate my request. Can't send death cert. as she buried in unmarked grave in Eureka Cemetery Wisconsin, this according to my elderly father, cemetery assoc. has no record of her death. Just wondering if any success story experiences from this state, thanx for any info.

The Resch family was apparently a rather big one back in Hungary. I spoke to someone else working on this branch, and she advised me too that it does not sound familiar. As you know, looks can be deceiving. We will keep you in mind if we break something open that sheds more light or connects the two Resch families. Thanks again! Jack

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CGC.2ACI/525.1 Message Board Post: I have a little more information. Someone was able to narrow down the year. She writes, "According to the list of photographers in Winnebago Co, WI the photo you have would have been taken in 1883 as Ely Studio was at the 25 Elm Street address only in that year." So, Elizabeth was about 28 at the time of this photograph. IF (and this is an "IF") she is the daughter of Adam and Mary Bell, then she probably got married between 1870-1880 as she appears with them in the 1860 and 1870 census, but not the 1880. Now, she could have been away as a governess, simply missed, whatever. But, chances are she married. And, given that this photo was taken in 1883 in Oshkosh, there's a good chance she remained in the area at least initially. They mystery continues... :)

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CGC.2ACI/452.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Jack: I came across your Resch postings. I have a Frank Resch (b.26 Dec 1878 in Germany; parents unknown) who married a Christina "Clara" Gaerthoefner (b.5 May 1887 nr.St.Nazianz, Manitowoc Co) at St.Nazianz or in Sheboygan, WI) around 1905. Im related to the Gaerthoefner's. Frank and Clara had at least 11 children including a son Joseph (grdson of your Joseph?). I believe the family settled for a time around Two Rivers, Manitowoc Co, WI although both Frank and Clara may have died in Sheboygan. Do these folks connect with yours? If so, I would like to talk to you further. Also, I have a Teresa Resch marrying a John Drews in Sheboygan in 1918 (unknown connection) and Barbara Resch marrying a Michael Seckinger in Niederkirchen, Deidesheim, Rheinpfalz, Bavaria in 1855. I have no idea if Barbara connects to any of these other Resch's. Does any of this sound familiar? Hope to hear from you. Tom Lutz

    3. If you go directly to this link: http://www.usgenweb.org/statelinks.html you get a U.S. map and can go directly to each State's U.S. GenWeb site by clicking on that State. Once at a State, you can select the county you want from a list and\or State map. There are, generally, Statewide resources listed as well. I use this as my "Home" Page when I go online. It's invaluable. .... valentine53179 wrote: > time for everyone to learn how to get to any of the usgenweb project > sites.... > > go to rootsweb.com homepage... > scroll down the middle-ish column look for usgenweb project... > click... > the click on projects list... > then click on states list... > then click on county of interest.... > > there really is NO need for a link if you know how to get there > yourself.... > > course genweb +county on google.com will probably do it... > > of genweb +county +rootsweb.com to narrow it all the more... > > > From: "Janet Eiler" <jeiler@new.rr.com> > Reply-To: WIWINNEB-L@rootsweb.com > To: WIWINNEB-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [WIWinneb'go] winn co USGenWeb site > Date: Mon, 29 Sep 2003 10:24:32 -0500 > > This is an email link!? > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Tracy Reinhardt" <fondygenie@charter.net> > To: <WIWINNEB-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, September 29, 2003 9:51 AM > Subject: [WIWinneb'go] winn co USGenWeb site > > > > The Winnebago county site that is part of the National US Genweb project > > can be found at > > WIWINNEB-L@rootsweb.com > > > > Tracy Reinhardt > > Winn. and Fdl county co-ordinator > > > > > > ==== WIWINNEB Mailing List ==== > > ~~ SUBJECT LINES ~~ > > Think about it!! My Greatgrandma was Bridget McCormick Finan Hogan. She was born in Ireland but came to New Brunswick at about 3. Rebecca Collins has a lot of info on the NB part of the Genealogy. Bridget moved from Manistee,MI to Oshkosh after Patrick Hogans death in 1871. I always wondered why, but now I feel that Mary McCormick Levy was her sister and thats why the move.Perhaps also Mary is the M.McCormick who owned the cemetery plot since she married Thomas Levy. The obit in Fond du Lac paper doesn't say where she would be buried. Thanks for your input.

There are headstones for the Levy's(Leavey) on the lot but none for M McCormick. Margaret and Peter McCormick are my gggrandparents. I know there are many other Levy's at the Riverside Cemetery. 1. [WIWinneb'go] Elizabeth Bell Mac???? (Knoh???) Photograph
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CGC.2ACI/525 Message Board Post: I have acquired an old photograph of a young woman (who apparently lived on to become a very old woman). The photograph was taken at Ely Studio No. 2., Elm Street, Oshkosh, WI. Handwritten on the back it says "Elizabeth Bell MacKnoh 1855-1943). Everything except the latter part of the surname is very legible. That is not so legible. Even a search of Scottish surnames didn't come up with anything that matched what we can read. It's most likely four, but maybe five, characters (after "Mac"). The first is most likely a B or a K. The next characters really look like "noh" and the "h" seems to match the "h" on Elizabeth. While the handwriting becomes less than legible, it does not look like someone was in a great hurry and just omitted the latter part of the name. I have no known relation to this person but I did look around the census and found Adam Bell, an architect in Oshkosh, with a daughter born in New York before he moved to the state in 1856. Her birth year would seem to be 1855. But since this inscription had to be written after her death - when she was over 90, I wouldn't be surprised if someone were a year off. :) Adam was also Scottish which lines up nicely with her Scottish married name. But, this is all speculation on my part. :) This photo was purchased at an antique mall on Warm Springs Avenue in Boise, Idaho. Anyone know more? Any modern relations wish a copy?
