    3. I have a puzzle that happened in Omro, WI On 22 Oct 1891 Henry L Waite and his wife Kitty Peaslee Waiteadopted a son and called him Wilburt Waite. I do not believe that Kitty was in favor of this. Mainley because the 1900 census lists him as adopted. After Henry died, Wilbur lived down the street. When she checked into the Zenith Masonic Home in 1942 she did not list a son. Wilber also was known as "Harvey Hale" and did not die until 06 Oct 1973 in Washington. I did not know of Wilbert during the time I grew up around Kitty, who was really old, or ever hear my mother or grandmother mention him. Any babies missing in Omro during this time? Anne

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CGC.2ACI/591.1 Message Board Post: www.jansdigs.com/Winnebago/index.html has a list of Winnebago County Photographers. The list may not be complete but it is what we have to date. Hennepin is a county in MN so if this person had a photography business in Oshkosh, WI, he probably called it something else. Knowing the proprietor's name might help when looking thru the Winnebago list of photographers as many of them used their last names for their business names. Good Luck in your venture!

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CGC.2ACI/590.2 Message Board Post: Rick, Mary is the lady who works in the office at Riverside Cemetery. They have maps to hand out with all the blocks numbered! The maps are really a big help to send you in the right direction. The blocks are also physically numbered to help you know you are in the right area. The streets withing the cemetery are also named with visable street signs. It is rather simple finding our loved ones graves there. The office hours are 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. You are also correct in your assumption of the Oshkosh City Cemetery and Riverside being the same cemetery. The Riverside name became official in the 1880's, 1885 I believe.

    1. [WIWinneb] 1865 state census
    2. Michelle Campbell
    3. Hi, Does anyone have access to the 1865, Wisconsin State census for the city of Oshkosh? I'm looking for 2 guys who appear in the 1866, 1868, 1869, 1872, 1876, 1879, and 1880 Oshkosh city directories, but I can't find them in the federal census for 1870 or 1880. Gottlieb Sonnenberger and Christoph Sonnenberger. Their surnames are spelled in various proximities to Sonnenberger, but it's also shortened to Sonnenberg. In 1866, Gotlieb is living south side Winnebago between Lake and Bowen. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks. ~Michelle

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CGC.2ACI/586.2 Message Board Post: Wow, Audrey, this was a tough one. Glad you finally cracked it. Anna is not in the Oshkosh Online Obit Index, so your best bet is the Berlin paper, although there might be something in the Omro Herald. For the Herald you'll have to contact the Wisconsin Historical Society. For the Berlin Journal, you can write the Berlin Public Library,121 W. Park Ave., Berlin, WI 54923 or e-mail director@berlinlibrary.org. Do NOT use the AskWisconsin symbol on the Berlin library webpage to sent them an e-mail question; at present, all questions to small Winnefox libraries are routed to Oshkosh Public Library.
