I do know that there are 3 different Burdick families in Oshkosh alone, I'm close to linking two of them together. But I don't believe there is any relation. I do have a George Burdick in my line, but I don't believe your George had the last name of Burdick. Sorry, thank you for your interest, and posting a reply. Oshkosh Public Library staff indexed and entered 1970-95, and will be adding 1996-97 to close the gap between this and a more recent index. This index, the Winneconne Public Library obit index, and the Fond du Lac City/Couty Public Library index are under the care of Winnefox Library System computer guru Keetra Baker. Good work by all! We are blessed to be able to work together to provide this information.

    1. [WIWinneb] Re: Galen Guild at Riverside Cemetery
    2. Michelle Campbell
    3. Hi All, I've learned some new information since the last time I wrote the list. I found my Galen Guild living with his daughter, Emily C. Barr and her husband John. In the 1870, Oshkosh, Winnebago Co., WI (Ward 3, Page 16), John (36) and wife Emily C. (32) were found living at 37 6th Street with their children: Elizabeth (14) b. NY, Stella (11) b, WI, Gill (9), b. WI, and Cora (4) b. WI. Also residing with the family is Emily's father, Galen Guild (spelled Galon Gall/Gull) (64) b. MA. And boarders: William Gruenwood (25) b. WI, and Anna Lewis (31) b. WI. William is a Hostler and Ann is a domestic. The Barr's were found in Nebraska for the 1880 census, but no sign of Galen. The burial at Riverside I think happened shortly after the 1870 census, because I no longer find him listed in the city directory after 1870. Is there newspaper or any sort of public recording of this time in Oshkosh where his death might have been reported? Thanks for any help. Any suggestions welcome. ~Michelle ----- Original Message ----- From: Michelle Campbell To: WIWINNEB-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, April 06, 2003 10:11 AM Subject: Galen Guild at Riverside I would like to thank all who've helped me in my pursuit to obtain the death date for my ancestor Galen Guild. I'm very grateful. I'm going to keep trying various options available, and will keep you posted. Thanks again. ~Michelle

    3. I recently received some obits from the Winnebagoland Genealogial Society and was informed they had a $ 10.00 per hour research fee prepaid plus 25 cents for each copy. I had already looked up the dates for my request, I receicived 10 copies at a total cost of $13.33 which included 83 cents for postage. $10.00 for the research fee, $2.50 for 10 copies and as I mentioned .83 cents for postage. Considering the information I gained I think it was well worth it.
