    3. I asked Peter Christianson from the Winchester Area Historical Society (PO Box 84, Larsen, WI 54947) about this. He read some information to me from the book "History Of The Town Of Clayton". He also mentioned the society has a 70-80 page Mikesville history book, apparently written by Hazel Breaker (now deceased), who ran the Mikesville store south of the cemetery. That church is a 1/3 scale copy of one that used to stand by the cemetery, built within the past 5-6 years by Sue Rubik. She just put on the steeple. The original church was torn down in the early 1900's, with the lumber used to build cabins. It was a German Methodist Evangelical church. The church copy has no records, and no services held there, that Peter knows of. The original church records may have gone to a church on Highway 45 and Highway 150. That was moved to what became the Stop and Go Tavern, which burned down. The problem with the old country churches was that when cars came, the people could drive farther to church. The location of the records of the original church is not known. Typically, the records of defunct churches were passed around. It would be a good research project to trace the Methodist records in the county. Lutheran records have been sent to a central repository in northwest Illinois, according to the pastor of the Lutheran church in Winchester. WAHS has a nice historical newsletter which I subscribe to. 3. Rhonda, There is no record at the county level either. You might want to try contacting the cemetery records office: City of Omro, 205 S. Webster Ave., Omro, WI 54963 or their phone number is 920-685-7000. They may or may not have any more info to offer you but in 1865 it was not law to file vital records. Are you sure she died in Winnebago Co, WI? In 1860 & 1870 Absolam & Melissa Williams were in Spring Prairie, Walworth Co, WI...are you sure of the death of 1865? Both of these two were born in NY. The only Ambrose Williams I found was 29 in 1870 in Brunswich, Eau Claire Co, WI and then another in 1880 aged 43 yrs married to a Julia in Bridge Creek, Eau Claire Co, WI. Both of these men were born in Ohio. I did find your Ambrose Williams that served in the Civil War (enlisted 2/1865) and lived in Omro but didn't find a pension record with the cemetery info on it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I have written to the Wisconsin Historical Society for a death certificate but they did not find her in the index at the state level. 1. [WIWinneb] Marriage lookup - McALEER/McLEAN
    2. K&D Lawrence
    3. Would anyone have the time, and willing to look for a marriage for me, probably in Winnebago County, for a Rosanna (Rose) McALEER and a Grant McLEAN? I have already checked the Wisconsin Marriage index on Ancestry and they aren't there, but Winnebago County is not included in the index online. According to the census, they would have been married around 1886 to 1888. Their first and only child, Mary G. was born 15 June 1889 in Winnebago Co. Rose was living in Green Bay in 1880 so I believe she would have still been in Wisconsin when they married, and Rose was in Oshkosh in 1900. As a followup to my earlier request for Mary's birth record, I have now found an obituary for Rose in the Oshkosh Northwestern Daily on Ancestry, which gave me the death date of both Rose and her second husband Mathew SAMPSON, and their place of burial. Rose didn't have any more children. >From that obituary I also got the married name of her daughter, Mary. I have now found Mary in Montana in both 1920 and 1930, married to Ernest Erwin MALOY about 1923 and I have both their death dates, where they died, and the place and date of burial. They never had a family. Just my success story, thanks to Paula who got me the maiden name of Rose from the birth records. - Karen in BC Canada
