The Malones you referenced in your reply are all my ancestors--Dennis Malone is my GG-grandfather. Is the book you cite widely available, or else would it be possible for you to let me know the names and dates of any other children of Denis and Elizabeth Malone who might be listed? I am particularly interested in daughters Mary and Ella, born in the 1870's, and Arthur, born 1877, but there may be others of whom I am not aware Thanks for any assistance!

It can be found at the Oshkosh Public Library, Register of Deeds Rm 30 of the courthouse or can be purchased through the Winnebagoland Genealogical Society for $18. Otherwise, to purchase the land patent and application you must go through the Bureau of Land Management. http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ Only federal land patents are on this site. State patents must be obtained through the state. Wills - one index is in the Probate Office at the courthouse Rm 242 they closed during lunch. Early wills are then located at the Area Research Center at Polk Library. Also, be sure to check book 18 of the irregular land record index for early wills in the Register of Deeds Rm 170 at the courthouse. Good luck with your research.
