I was able to track everyone in Illinios until 1900 and only Matilda until 1910. Thanks for any help or assistance. -K-

Just call me space make that a capital S. Okay, birth year is approximatley around 1839 for Martha and unknown for Herman. We didn't even know he was a "Herman" until it was found in 1914 book. We were trying to locate under the name "Hiram" Scott and were looking in Illinois first. The book stated Herman H. and Martha (Miller) Scott as Matilda's parents.

    1. Enoch Brooks b. 1826, NY
    2. Michelle Campbell
    3. Hi List, I have a bit of an issue, I'm hoping someone out there can clear up for me. I noticed in the 1893, Oshkosh Directory that my Alma Guild-Robbins-Brooks b. 1831(NY) is listed as widow of Enoch Brooks. It was my understanding from Enoch's obit that he died April 12, 1911, at the home of his son Elmer. I considered that we might be talking about two different Enoch Brooks, who just happen to be the same age, married a women by the same name, and were pioneer residents who served in the Civil War and were Engineers....but that seemed to be a little bit much. Is there anyone else working on this line who might be able to straighten me out? Enoch's marriage record to Alma (Guild) Robbins in 1875, states that his father was Stephen Brooks. I have information on Stephen's family line and everything in Enoch's obit matches up. So, I think I'm talking about the same Enoch Brooks. Problem is that I now have two different death dates for the (same?) person. I'm missing something here, I just can't seem to figure out what that "something" can be. Thanks, ~Michelle

She is daughter of Herman and Martha (Miller) Scott. She is also the only known daughter however census records from Rock Island, Illinois indictate that she also had a brother named Eric. Matilda married George Johnson in Rock Island, but they made their life on his family farm in Zuma township. They had six children there. We are willing to share any information if someone else is also researching further into this lineage. Thanks, Kathy

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CGC.2ACI/696 Message Board Post: My line starts with Matthew and Elisabeth (Spanbauer) Blechel. Their son, Alois/Louis Blechel, was my Great Grandfather. He was born 1/29/1863 in Germany somewhere...probably the southern part. He came to the US in 1879, settled in Oshkosh at some point, married Mary Stieg on February 1, 1886, and they started raising a family..... Joseph, Frank, Louis, George, Edward, Michael, and Marie. Alois/Louis Blechel Sr. worked for the Diamond Match Company in Oshkosh. He and the gang moved to Duluth, Minnesota in 1903 where he was a superintendant at the Union Match Company. He lived in Duluth till his death on August 1, 1942. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know. I haven't had much luck researching his siblings, but Oshkosh had/has plenty of Blechel/Blechl/Bloechls, and I'm sure my Alois/Louis fits in somewhere with somebody. Thanks in advance!
