They were married Aug 21, 1870 St Peter's church, Oshkosh. I believe Ellen died in 1874, and James died in 1881. I have found only 1 McLeod family in the area, Clayton, and trying to find a connection to them. Peter and Elizabeth(ferguson) McLeod lived in Clayton around 1860/70. Was James their son? Is there a cemetery in Clayton where this family could be buried? Or are they buried in Riverside where Ellen possible family(trying to connect her with my O'Donnell's) are all buried? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks Judy McCormick

My data on Julia is limited to estimated birth date (abt March 17, 1835 in Prussia) and death date (Dec. 6, 1912) from tombstone. She was buried in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Black Wolf Township, Winnebago County, WI. I do not have a marriage date for either of Gottlieb's wives. I would like to consolidate your data on their descendants into mine. Do you use a genealogy software? I would be happy to swap GEDCOMs.

Hello Listers, I am able to do lookups for Winnebago County. Can look up obituaries and also special articles you may be looking for. Please email me direct with requests and estimated costs. Thank you and Happy Holidays to all.
I'm not related to the DeVinney family, but do know that they were residents of Winneconne. I don't believe that the branch that lived here had any male sons, thus probably no longer exists. Lavina White (wife of Merritt White, a past Senator from Winneconne, in the 1920s) was sister to Mrs. DeVinney, but I don't know her given name. Frances DeVinney (Lavina's niece) was a teacher in Winneconne in the 40s. She is buried in the local cemetery along with her parents, but unfortunately they are only described as mother and father and I haven't been able to put names to them yet. If you are not able to find anyone to claim the photos, I know that the Winneconne Historical Society would be thrilled to get them for their collection. Kathy Grace
I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the DEVINNEY Family. The first is a photograph of Charles B. DEVINNEY which was taken at the S.B. Brockway Studio in Winneconne, Wisconsin. The photograph was probably taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Charles looking to be in his 20's or 30's at the time. The second photograph is of Elvira M. DEVINNEY, taken at the same studio during approximately the same time period. Elvira appears to be in her teens or early 20's at the time. I don't know how they might be related, though they do look as though they could be siblings. I'm hoping to locate someone from this DEVINNEY Family, so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

I am also a descendant of the Jacob Bates / Lydia Barnes line. My third great-grandmother was Polly Bates, daughter of Jacob and Lydia. She married Edwin Moffet, which by and by begat my mother. I have not yet joined the Bates Society, but hope to soon. I do not know much about the Bates family past Andrew, but stumbled on a site once by a man in Lydd. He said he'd be happy to take pictures if I wanted, sometime, of graveyards. Do you know anything about rumors of Clement Bates being related to John Lathrop or Oliver Cowdery? Stumbled on that at the local LDS FHC, and haven't found anything on it since. Anyway, nice to meet another family member, Later - Janna
