    1. Census Between 1880 & 1900
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CGC.2ACI/747.1 Message Board Post: The Federal Census of 1890 was lost in a fire back in the 1920s. The State of Wisconsin took censuses in 1885 and 1895. However, these just lists heads of households, plus numbers in categories such as male and female, or foreign born versus born in US. This is available on microfilm at the Oshkosh Public Library, through LDS Family History Centers, or on Interlibrary loan from the Wisconsin Historical Society. There is no overall index. They did a section for Civil War veterans, listing their regiment and company of service, plus post office as of census date. This is in book form at Oshkosh Public Library and many other larger libraries in Wisconsin. However, the early Oshkosh City Directories and the 1893 Winnebago County Directory may be of help to you. See http://www.oshkoshpubliclibrary.org/citydirs/welcome.html. 1893 is the first directory to cover Neenah, Menasha, Omro Winneconne and the countryside. The 1889 Illustrated Atlas of Winnebago County shows landowners; it is being digitized and will be on the web this fall.

    1. REA Burials at Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh
    2. Gary Rea
    3. If anyone lives in or near Oshkosh, I'd like to request a cemetery look-up, please. My g-g-grandfather James Azel REA was buried in the Rea plot at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh, which is at 1901 Algoma Blvd. Also buried in the Rea plot are other Reas, including Thomas Elial Rea (whose stone is misspelled "Ray"). I have read that some of the graves are unidentified or unidentifiable. If I could arrange to get photos of these grave stones it would be greatly appreciated and I'd be willing to pay for this, of course. If anyone is interested and can do this for me, just email me and I will supply my mailing address. Thanks. Gary Rea

The petition declares that the deceased named Tamesin Cady (called Tamacy) as his widow and the following his only heirs at law first of kin to wit; Josiah Cady. town of Sempronius Olive, wife of Amos Reed, of Milton, Saratoga County Roxana Cady of Sempronius Asahel Cady of Sempronius Your petitioner, who am over the age of twenty-one years (Alva) Clarissa Cady, who is a minor William Darling, address unknown Sally, wife of Edmund Austin, county of Chautauqua Collins Pine, over 21 and supposed to be in Vermont Sarah Pine and John Pine, minors if alive but unheard of for many years. The petition also asks that James Ball of the town of Niles be appointed guardian of the minors to take care of their interests. The will itself was dated Mar. 25, 1833. John Cady 2nd was one of the witnesses to the will. I don't think Tamesin was Jeremiah's first wife. Jeremiah was born in 1761 in Plainfield, CT, and she is closer to the age of his son Josiah. (Josiah born 1781) I have a note to myself saying I didn't think she was Josiah's mother because she was close to the same age (but didn't write down where the info came from - grr!)
