    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Roll, Szot Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CGC.2ACI/766.2.1 Message Board Post: Janet, thanks for responding and trying to help me. Yes, I checked the 1920 Census and also the Illinois Death Index, and she wasn´t there. One reason that makes me believe she died young is that Edward´s birth cert of 1915 asks for the number of children of this mother, and it says 4 born, 2 alive (which I assume includes the new born baby). I know for sure that the first child of my grandparents, born 1911, survived, and that the third child, Antonina, born 1914, died 2 hours after birth in Chicago (she´s in the Illinois Death Index, and I have her death cert, so I know this for sure also). Helena, the second child, born 1913, was in the birth register and I got her baptism record from Chicago, but can´t find her death in Illinois. She´s not in the 1920 Census either, and there is a gap between the first child, born 1911, and Edward, born 1915. The next two girls born after Edward were named Antonina and Helena again, and I can´t imagine my grandparents would have given these girls the same names if the other two were still alive. I assume that my grandmother and the children lived in Wisconsin at least for some time, maybe they stayed with relatives or friends, while my grandfather worked in Chicago. Their first three children were born in Chicago, their fourth child was born in Oshkosh, and the following children were all born in Chicago again, where I know my grandmother lived permanently after 1915 according to her Declaration of Intention. But what happened to Helena? I assume she died some time between 1913 and before June 1915 either in Illinois or Wisconsin. Is there a Wisconsin Death Index covering the time after 1912? I would also be very interested in the obituary of Mrs. Fred Roll (I found an Alfred Roll who lived in Wisconsin the Social Security Death Index). Thanks again for your help. Ute

Although I can't give you any specific info concerning your family, I can tell you that the Oshkosh Public Library has been very helpful in providing old obituaries from the towns newspaper (Oshkosh Northwestern). Perhaps contacting them could lead you to useful information. Bobbie

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Roll, Szot Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CGC.2ACI/766 Message Board Post: I received the birth certificate of my grandparents´ fourth child born in Oshkosh, WI, and would like to get the baptism record also. From the birth certificate I know that the family lived at 141, Pearl Street, Oshkosh, in 1915. The boy´s name was Edward Roll, son of Frank Roll and Julia Szot, born June 15, 1915. Before Edward was born, my grandparents had a daughter, Helena Roll, born June 1, 1913 in Chicago. Helena must have died before June 15, 1915. I got her birth and baptism records, but there was no death certificate for her in Chicago. It is possible that she died in Oshkosh while the family lived there. Is there a kind soul out there who has access to the respective records in Oshkosh and would be willing to help me? Thank you. Ute

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CGC.2ACI/761.3 Message Board Post: Dear Shally, You don't say where you are. Obviously, if you can make a trip to Winnebago County, you could visit the Vital Records office. While copies cost, taking notes is free. Check with your local public library about seeing the 1900 and 1910 census listings for these folks. Many libraries are subscribed to services which will let you view these online. Take a look at this 1909 county map. You'll find Koro near the lower left. http://www.jansdigs.com/Winnebago/winnebagomap1.JPG General store/post office, school, church or two and creamery--that's all it took in Wisconsin back then to be a social and trading center. Good luck.

It's really strange though, when my grandmother Mildred would talk about Koro, she made it sound as if is was an actual town. No wonder I could never find it on a map. But she also talked about Omro too. Would you have any idea on how I can death, birth, baptismal, burial, and other such information like that, without having to buy those records ? I don't really need the actual certificates right now, I just want the dates, names, and other such information like that. I am just starting out on my genealogy hunt, and don't have any money to spare for the actual records. And THANK YOU again for your reply posting. Feel free to e-mail me: iluvfrogs8493@yahoo.com

I was wondering if you had anymore census information. From the 1920 one that you posted, and backwards. I am looking for the last name of Holman, Hallman, Hallmann. The first names for the H last names are Minnie, Herman, Auguste, Augusta, Gusty, and William. Also looking for these names John Rode, Caroline Somerfeld (there might be different ways to spell those last names too, just not sure). And then starting with the 1900 census (if there was one for that year) and moving forward, I am looking for the name of Boettcher. All of these are in Wisconsin. For the Boettcher last name, first name would be Herman. Augusta H? and Herman Boettcher were married in Feb. 1903. And they had 2 children Ernest(Ernie) and girl, along with Minnie and Herman H?. I am also looking for birth dates, death dates, christening dates, marriage dates for all of relatives listed above. Any and all information that you can help me with will always be greatly appreciated. And THANK YOU aga! in for your previous reply posting.
