    1. [WIWAUSHA] Sylvanus Twist
    2. C Kredt
    3. Hello Listers - Sylvanus Twist is my gr-gr-grandfather. He moved to Richfield Twsp. (I realize this is Adams County) presumably shortly after 1855 and supposedly died Jan. 25, 1861. Some of my cousins and I are attempting to discover where he - and his older brother, Henry - are buried, one of the main problems being that one descendant has claimed that "there were no markers placed on the graves and no record kept..." He also states that both gentlemen were "buried in a little country cemetery in Richfield Township in Adams Co." Another source claims that somewhere in Hamilton County, MO, where his wife is buried (she survived him by some 25 years and went to live with married children at some point after his death), there is a notation that Sylvanus is "resting at Coloma, Wis." I plan to get in touch with the respective Township Clerks to check on burial records (despite the above comment that none was kept) but thought I would also post this to the Waushara list, since we have had no success as yet in Adams County, in the hopes that someone might know something or be able to suggest where I could turn next for help. Is there a Historical Society that might throw some light on this? Any snippet of help would be appreciated. Carol in Beautiful British Columbia

    3. Cynthia, Your provider is blocking messages from me as spam. I don't know if you sub to this list or not but I didn't want you to think I wasn't answering you: Hi Cynthia, I'm afraid I don't have much new info. The notice was in the STEVENS POINT DAILY JOURNAL July 13, 1939. So the picnic would have been held on the fourth of July 1939. and it was at the home of Mr and Mrs H C Lienhard of Almond, Wisconsin (Waushara County). I'm afraid thats all I know, I just found it on Xerox of an obituary that I had ordered. It was a complete article so I thought I would post it in case someone could use it. Sorry, but Good Luck!! 3. List Members: This message is of HIGH IMPORTANCE, but is NOT to be further discussed on this list. Any comments you have must be directed to me at [email protected] . The following message was sent to all Rootsweb List administrators, and we were directed to pass it along to list members: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >From Rootsweb Staff: "This is a period of intense political times when emotions and opinions will run high in many directions. "The simple issue is that RootsWeb is for genealogical research and not for political discussions. Equivalent political situations have been known to cause significant disturbances and needed intervention by admins and occasionally by Rootsweb staff." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We list administrators have been directed by RootsWeb to reinforce where necessary to our subscribers the basis of the mailing lists and their provision by RootsWeb to users, and, where necessary, take actions to maintain the focus of mailing lists. Therefore, any references to the present political situation will result in being unsubscribed from the list. This will also extend to any "political or religious" messages included in signature blocks. Your anticipated cooperation is appreciated. I found part of my Goodwin family in Menomonee in the 1870 census: Lee, Charles, 36, Farmer $6000 /$1250 ?Prussia Jane S. 40 Keeping house PA Delany, William 22 Farm Laborer PA James 16 Farm Laborer MA Michael 14 Farm laborer NH Lee, Joseph 3 WI Harkley, M. E. 23 Dom. Servant PA Goodwin Joseph 12 MA James 10 MA S. E. 9 MA The mother of those Goodwin children appears to have died. Their father, Michael Goodwin and two older siblings (John & Michael) were living in Milwaukee at this time. I would like to know what happened to Joseph, James and Susan Goodwin, and to learn more about Jane Lee. I suspect her maiden name, as well as a possible first-marriage name, was Delany. She appears as Jane Delany, with sons James & Michael in the 1880 census. And who was William Delany? Michael Delany is still listed in the 1900 Menomonee census with wife, Sarah. A James Goodwin, of approximately right age and born in Massachusetts, is also in the 1900 Census, an undertaker, living in Milwaukee. Thanks for any help, or suggestions ! 1. [WIWAUSHA] Andersonville Civil War POW site
    2. Kevin Frye
    3. Hello veterans and newbies of the rootsweb. There are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 629 prisoners on record from the state of Wisconsin and almost 300 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. I feel the need to say I am not in anyway trying to focus on the horrors of Andersonville compared to any POW camp in the north ..( i.e.Elmira ) or any others and do not wish to stir up arguments on this site. My focus is dedicated to ALL of those held prisoner during this war , on both sides as well as all Americans who gave their freedoms for those that we enjoy today.. I just happen to be near Andersonville so this is where I do my work Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not consider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask.
