He died 2 Sept 1854 in Palmyra Village, WI. He lived in NY during the middle of his life. His parents were David SMITH born in 1740 in Ireland and Lydia (nee ORVIS) HAWLEY born 15 Sept 1748. Chauncey married Lydia SALISBURY (born 3 Sept 1786, died 11 Aug 1837, Adams, NY) and had 10 children: Rowena, Caroline, Chauncey Jr., Willard, Ursula, Sarah, Lydia, Adeline, Jane, and Clarinda. After Lydia died, Peter married Lydia's sister Jane who had been living with them. Any chance these are your Chauncey Smiths? I would be glad to correspond with your Turner researcher.
