    1. [WIWAUKES] Research suggestions?-Berg
    2. I am in Oklahoma and honestly not very familiar with research in Wisconsin. It seems that I have quite a family puzzle and can't see the forest for the trees, so to speak. I am hoping someone might be able to give me some suggestions or advice on where to look. I have checked the Waukesha website and haven't found anything on my line as yet but love the site. My puzzle: Even though per birth place of children I can't locate the following family in Wisconsin in 1850 even at John Berg in Germantown, John Burk in New Berlin and John Broghe in Brookfield as well as every household in 1850 New Berlin township. In the 1860 NEW BERLIN, Waukesha census I find the following family: John Berg born about 1808 in Bavaria Maria, wife born about 1820 in Bavaria Elizabeth age 20 (born about 1840) in Bavaria John age 16 born NY (some family discrepancy here, some records say Wisconsin in 1841)-my line Mary 13 born Wisconsin Sarah 11 born Wisconsin Ellen 8 born Wisconsin Henry 5 born Wisconsin In 1865 Elizabeth is married and living in Leavenworth Co., KS with husband Nickolas Zimmerman. In there household is Elizabeth's sisters, Mary and Ellen as well as an older William Berg (?older brother?) I am not able to find a marriage for Elizabeth Berg and Nickolas in Kansas as well. Possible they married in Wisconsin? Might there be some cemetery record of John and Maria Berg in New Berlin? At this point I am thinking the older John Berg and his wife, Maria died and the younger girls came to live with the older sister? I can't find the Berg's in the 1870 Wisconsin census. Also per family history there are two other sisters, Katherina "Kate" and Clara Berg. We have a picture of Clara Berg and her husband and unknown GERTSCH. I do not find these women in Kansas. Any suggestions or comments greatly appreciated. As I said I am unfamiliar with Wisconsin research or maybe I have just looked at this line too long and need a "fresh" prospective. Sincerely, Karen Stephenson OKC, OK
