I would try to get a hold of marriage records if possible, that will give you a better clue to the true parentage. Often names are so close, we want to assume that it is our kinfolk, but when in actuality it is someone different. For example one of my ancestors was names John Radej. When I set out looking for John I found no less that 7 all born between 1840-1850. It took a couple years but I was eventually able to figure out which one was my ancestor. Come to find out, he moved to Montana and he was no where near the county where I thought he lived in Wisconsin. He was born in the county and died in the county I was researching, but .....he didn't live there for a portion of his life. The marriage record gave me the clues I needed to insure I was talking about the right John. This could explain your discrepency in birth years/ages.
