Hi - I hope there is someone on the list who can give me information. The subject cemetery is in New Berlin. After much effort, I convinced some of my local relatives to go look at the cemetery and to take pictures of the tombstones of our ancestors. I live in Dallas, TX so cannot just hop in the car and go look for myself. I got the developed pictures today. Although some of the cemetery looks in well-groomed condition, one older area which houses some of my ancestors is overgrown with brush and in sad need of sprucing up. Is it permissible for a person to go to the plots for the purpose of removing the brush and cleaning it up? I certainly have no desire to be treated as though I am a trespasser or break some local ordnance. As I mentioned, I live over 1000 miles away, but if I could do this for my g-g-g-grandparents I would gladly make plans to do this project as my vacation. If there is no local authority who will prevent me from doing such a thing, is there any advice any of you can give me about how to proceed? Do permissions need to be obtained? What tools/equipment would be recommended as necessary for a thorough clean-up? Any and all thoughts, advice, wisdom, or experience will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
