If your family members lived in Waukesha County at the time of their WWII service, you may find at this museum the only record of their service, in the form of their discharge record. The county's copy of the discharge record has been given to the Museum for storage. I was poking around in there on a brief trip about two years ago and happened to run into the file cabinet, looked for my dad, and found him! Although his entire service record was not there, by a long shot, the dates of his overseas service (when he shipped out, from where), when he was inducted and where, his address at the time of enlistment, etc., all were there. Since, amazingly enough, most "real" service records were destroyed by fire, this may be your one chance to get details of the service record of yourself, your father or mother, grandfather or grandmother.
