The Putney School is on Brookfield Road, just north of North Avenue. The school changed it's name to Brookfield Elementary in 1931. The school district of Elmbrook recently rebuilt the building due to the limited space and deteriorating condition of the original building and add ons. The new school welcomed students early 2002. According to a pamphlet I have on the Schools of Waukesha County, available records are as follows: At the school: school censuses, treasurers' reports, photos, history by Lucy Thatcher AT the Waukesha County museum are: attendance records 1859-1898, 1929-1936, district meeting minutes 1867-1897, teachers contracts 1866-1876, register of school officers and their terms, 1867-1890 dedication booklet, including some school history, 1858, clippings, graphics. Hope that helps. Ellen- www.linkstothepast.com/waukesha
