There is a 17 page article in the "History of Waukesha County Wisconsin-1880", published by Western Historical Company, that details the organization of the Wisconsin Industrial School for Boys. The article states that the school officially opened July 23, 1860 and located in Waukesha. The article lists all of the managers and superintendents that served the school from 1860 to 1879; the article lists the rules of the school; the State Statutes that were enacted to create the school and the expenses associated with running the school. Lots of detailed information. Hope this helps.--Joe Chase ----- Original Message ----- From: <jittirbug@aol.com> To: <WIWAUKES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 13, 2002 9:39 AM Subject: [WIWAUKES] GREENLEY > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: GREENLEY-DEWEY-NELSON-WILLIAMS > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TFC.2ACE/582 > > Message Board Post: > > Almonzo Buell GREENLEY b. 1859 in Jefferson Coutny, NY > F. Orsamus B. GREENLEY b.1824 NY- M.Loriaette DEWEY b.1836 NY - One brother Clinton O. Greenley b. 1860. The family moved to Waukesha, WI in 1864. Orsamus B. Greenley died in 1865. Loriaette married Zopher J. NELSON about 1870. I just learned that the Will of 1877 Almonzo's Grandfather Solomon O. GREENLEY b. 1800 listed the two boys Almonzo B. and Clinton O. as descendants. He gave their where abouts as Clinton living in Colby, WI and Almonzo B. living in Waukesha, WI. I have no idea what Almonzo would be doing in Wasukesha at this age? My Grandmother Alice May (e) is supposed to have been born in 1879-1880 in Fargo, ND. No records found anywhere of her birth in ND or WI. The first marriage record I have found for Almonzo B. was to a Jennie E. Williams in Hull, Marathon, WI 10 Feb 1880. > I also have read about the Industrial School for Boys or State School in Waukesha. This peaked my interest too. I would appreciate any kind of help to get my research going in Waukesha at this time 1877. I have a lot of information on the Greenley's I would be willing to share. Thank you in advance. > > > ==== WIWAUKES Mailing List ==== > The Waukesha County Mailing List is maintained by Ellen Rohr, > Waukesha County, WIGenWeb Coordinator.
