Would anyone know if an epidemic swept through Waukesha County in the summer of 1850? I've got several deaths in one family during that time. Thanks.
Hi Mary, I have been researching in Kenosha and Racine counties in detail during late July and August of 1850 lately, and there was a bad cholera epidemic in both places. Also there are reports of cholera epidemics in St Louis and Philadelphia in the papers those months. A report from Racine indicated 30-50 deaths a day in August from cholera. I have a fairly healthy suspicion you'll find the same in Waukesha.
