    3. Good Weekend listers, I am researching my husband's family...or attempting to do so. <G> They are as follows, from the Vernon area: Barbara MEETH m. James BUTLER Children of Barbara & John BUTLER: Frances Butler b. 1895, d Dec 4 1927 in Chitina AK (husband's mother) John J Butler Kathryn Butler Edward Butler Eugene Butler Benjamin C Butler ~~~ Barbara Meeth BUTLER m. James TAYLOR Children of Barbara & James TAYLOR: Barbara Taylor Joanna Taylor James R Taylor Mame Taylor Ann Taylor ~~~ Barbara Meeth Butler TAYLOR m. SINGSIME No children Especially interested in Frances Butler. Have no information...no birth or death cert. on file. She died when my husband was 2½. Inquest in AK said death by a gun was suicide, but it is believed she was shot by her husband so he could return to former wife. He did return to first wife and remarried her. Oddly, AK has NO death record, but I have newspaper articles. Any help appreciated. Karen sumrg@jps.net ~~~~ Historic Cemeteries of Nevada County http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~historic

    1. Re: Waukesha County List
    2. Hi All! My name is John W. Ladwig and I've researched one family of the LADWIG/LUDWIG name in Waukesha Co., WI. John Ladwig immigrated to the U.S. in about 1854 and located in Muskego, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. He was probably the half brother of my great-grandfather, Theodor Ladwig who settled in Rochester, Monroe Co., N.Y. John Ladwig married Carolina (Lena) Möller/Müller who had been born on 4 Apr. 1828 in Karnitz, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. Her parents were Theodosius and Anna Maria (Köster) Möller and she had been baptized on 7 Apr. 1828 in the Lutheran Church in Neukalen, Mecklenburg, Germany. Her full baptized name was Carolina Sophia Dorothea Hanna Möller. John Ladwig was probably the son of Jochim Diederich Theodose and Charlotta Maria (Hoff) Ladwig and had probably been born on 29 Dec. 1826 in Lelkendorf, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. He was baptized on 2 Jan. 1827 in the Lutheran church in Schorrentin, Mecklenburg, Germany. His full baptized name was Johann Carl Christoph Ludwig Ladwig. In Wisconsin, they attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tess Corners. Lena (Müller) Ladwig died on 8 Apr. 1894 in Muskego and was buried on 10 Apr. 1894. She was 66 years and 4 days old according to the record of her burial. John Ladwig died on 26 Nov. 1898 in Muskego. He was buried on 29 Nov. 1898. He was 71 years, 11 months and 10 days old according to the church records. Their children were: 1. Friedrich (Fred) Wilhelm, b. 5 Sept. 1854 (in Muskego, WI. according to the record of his marriage); conf. 10 Apr. 1870 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tess Corners, Wisconsin; m. 8 Feb. 1879 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Franklin, WI., Maria (Mary) Riebe (b. in Franklin, WI.; dau. of Friedrich and Marie [Schütt] Riebe). Fred changed the spelling of the name from Ladwig to Ludwig by 1892. 2. Johann (John) Peter, b. 13 Feb. 1858 in Oak Creek, WI.; conf. 29 May 1871; d. 19 June 1917 in Muskego, WI. of pneumonia; bur. 23 June 1917 in Muskego; m. 7 Nov. 1885 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Franklin, WI., Wilhelmine (Minna/Minnie) Müller (b. abt. 13 Nov. 1864; d. 17 Nov. 1895 in Muskego, Wisc.; bur. 19 Nov. 1895). The record of their marriage indicated that John was a farmer. They settled in Muskego, WI. John's family changed the spelling of the name from Ladwig to Ludwig by 1915. 3. Wilhelm (William) Heinrich Johann, b. 2 Mar. 1861; conf. 11 Apr. 1875; m. 11 Oct. 1891 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tess Corners, Johanna Augusta Martha Emilie Walther (b. 29 Sept. 1864 in Muskego, WI.; bapt. 19 Feb. 1865 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tess Corners, WI.; d. 28 Jan. 1920 in Muskego of septicemia [blood poisoning]; bur. 1 Feb. 1920 in Muskego; dau. of Heinrich and Friedericke [Pellmann] Walther; her parents may have died and she may have been adopted by Adam Mühl of Muskego, Wisc.). 4. Maria Sophia Johanna, b. 18 Sept. 1862 in Muskego, WI.; bapt. 12 Oct. 1862 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tess Corners, Wisconsin. 5. Ernst Heinrich Johann, b. 6 Aug. 1867 in Muskego; bapt. 7 Sept. 1867; m. 17 Apr. 1892 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tess Corners, Louise Friedericke Christiane Holz (b. 23 Aug. 1865 in Muskego, WI.; d. 16 Aug. 1913 in Muskego of pleurisy, pneumonia and heart disease; bur. 19 Aug. 1913 in Muskego; dau. of Wilhelm and Marie [Dammann] Holtz). They settled in Tess Corners, WI. I would be very interested in corresponding with and exchanging information with anyone reserching this family. Best Regards To All! John W. 1. Pre 1907
    2. The Pre 1907 index for Wisconsin is not complete. That is, Wisoncisn was not required to register vital records until 1907. Some counties were very good about registering before 1907 but Waukesha Co. was not. Milwaukee Co. was better at registering than Waukesha Co. You should still check at the county level as I have heard that not every Pre 1907 vital record was listed in the index. Lenora from Wisconsin

    3. I need some suggestions. Caroline Avery Kells died Sept 28 1896 Henry Kells died Dec 27 1892 Both died in Vernon, neither is listed in the pre 1907 death register, is it possible that no deaths in Vernon are listed in the pre 1907 death register? This could explain why I am having trouble finding my ancestors death dates. What newspaper would I most likely find these obituaries in? Bev

    3. I anm looking for the family surnames of Rapean and Meldorf. I know that they were in the Waukesha area at one time. I do not know the year but am looking at ca.1870's. This is just a rough guess. I know that they were of German heritage and that one or two of the siblings married into the Wendt family line. Can anyone help me? Has anyone ever heard of these surnames? I am beginning to believe that they are of Alien form.
