    2. I'd like to hear from anyone who descends from the John Chambers Cumming family or has knowledge of them: John Chambers Cumming, born 1802, County Down, Ireland and died Dec. 14, 1886 Eagle Twp, Waukesha Co, WI. He md Eunice GRAHM. This family came to NY City in 1802. John and his two brothers, Hance and Thomas (perhaps others) went to present-day Brant Co, Ontario 1822-30. John Chambers and Hance came to Waukesha Co, WI about 1845, living in the Eagle/Ottawa township area. Hance moved in 1852 to Fayette Co, IA. John remained in Waukesha Co. Below is a list of his known children: Sarah born 1831, who md Josiah ELTING Matilda S. born 1834 who md. Thomas 'Tucker' LEAN Thomas born 1840, who md Eliz. VALIEN and moved to Fayette Co, IA John Graham Dawson born 1841 who md Ellen APLIN Margaret born abt 1843 who md John KEUPER Ann Eve born 1846 who md George E. APLIN Hance/Horace Boggs born 1848 who md Mary Ellen SWAN Eliza Jane born 1850 who md B. MILLER Eunice born 1845-1857 - Mary born 1856 and died at age 10. I would like to know more about the below individuals who may or may not be part of the above family, which I've come across in my Waukesha County research: Stephen Cummings is listed in the 1846 Wisconsin census of Waukesha County, at Prairieville town (10 family members, 3 males, 7 females). Geore Cummings-found in Waukesha County state census of 1865, in Ottowa Township (5 in the family: 4 males, 1 female--two of which were foreign born). Ottowa is where the John Chambers Cumming family lived. Eliza CHAPIN md (possibly 1827 and/after) husband, __?___ Cummings; they were of Waukesha Co. Eliza was born in 1807 and died in 1884 and is buried in the same cemetery where the John Chambers Cumming family is buried (Jericho cemetery) There was another Cumming family in early Waukesha County, the name being spelled CUMMINGS, with the 's' at the end, though I allow for various spellings when I research. I find a Lucy A/M Cummings, born 1826 Windsor Co, VT who died 1895 Eagle Twp, Waukesha Co, VT. She was the daughter of Jacob A. Cummings who was born 1800 at Andover, Windosr Co, VT and md Lydia Dodge. Lucy md Frederic A. Sprague. The above Jacob was son of Ebenezer and Hannah (Washer) Cummings--Ebenezer was born 1761 at Hollis, NH. This 'Ebenezer' line goes back to early Massachusettes and I believe is not related to my line, though they did not live far apart in Waukesha County. A Mrs. Edward CHAPIN abstracted some naturalization records of New York City in 1800-1810 directly concerning my CUMMING family; I don't know if Mrs. Chapin was a genealogy volunteer who abstracted ALL NY City naturalization records or whether she was an individual researcher of the Chapin/Cumming family, but it is the 2nd time I encountered the name 'Chapin' while researching my Cumming family, so there is a chance the CHAPIN family is concerrned with my Cumming line. 3. Hello! I am researching the Noble family of Waukesha. James Beecher Noble was in Waukesha County near Brookfield by 1854. He moved to the area from an unknown location in New York State, the families origins reputedly being in Scotland. James' wife Jane Higgins died in NY and left him with three boys, Frank, Henry and Thomas Noble. James and the boys move to Waukesha along with his wife's sister and brother, Mahala and Almon Higgins. James marries Mahala in Janesville. Family lore is that the boys did not like their stepmother and the oldest two, Frank and Henry ran away. Thomas stayed in Waukesha, grew up and married Ida Ulricha Hartwig (of Germany) and they eventually moved on to Norfolk, VA. Questions: What happened to Frank and Henry Noble? What happened to Almon Higgins? There seem to be a ton of people from Scotland who migrated to New York State and thence to Wisconsin in the 1850s? What was the attraction? Looking forward to sharing information with the list. Nancy Noble Seattle Washington

    3. Hello all, I'm researching the surnames BLASING (BLAESING), KLOCK, LEISCHER, and KEEBLER in Elm Grove, Brookfield, and Waukesha. August Blaesing came to the USA from Hansfelde, Prussia in 1855 and was in Elm Grove by the time he married Hannah Keebler in 1858. Hannah's parents were Jacob and Elizabeth Keebler; I'd love to find more information on them if anyone out there has it. August's son Albert married Eugenia Klock. Her father was George Klock, who was a Lieutenant in the 39th WI in the civil war and was active in Waukesha's first fire department in the 1870s . George married Ann Leischer, daughter of Christian and Ann of Pewaukee. I know they had two sons who were inthe civil war, and I'd also love to find out more about this family. George Klock's father, James, came to the midwest from New York with his younger brother, Charles Klock, who ended up in Minnesota. I've managed to find out little about James Klock, and less about his wife, Marcia (Bull) Klock. I'd be delighted to share information with anyone interested in the same families. --Keith Blasing kmblaing@students.wisc.edu

    3. McELROY ~ COOK ~ WAGNER (Waukesha Villiage & City) The McElroy family (Michael & Rose and daughter Ellen) arrived about 1848 from Ireland (via port of NY). James, John, Huge, Patrick, and Sarah Jane were all born in Waukesha in the 1850-60's. Ellen married Alvin COOK in Waukesha in 1870 -- their marriage certificate states: " St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 North East Ave., Waukesha WI 53186-4888. John McElroy and Mary ROLEUA were witnesses, and Peter DeBERGE performed the service. John married Joanna WAGNER about 1878 and they had 1 child, James. Hugh died about 1874-76 in Waukesha, possibly buried in CALVERY Cemetery but this is not proved. In about 1879, Michael & Rose, Ellen & Alvin, Patrick, James, and Sarah Jane all moved to Michigan. John & Joanna and their son followed after 1883 to MI. And that's all I know folks :) Diane Decker-Warneke

    3. Hoping that KEIL, SCHUMANN (John William), WOERTH (WIRTH) and ENGLE are still some of the families in the Waukesha area. These families came to Peewaukee about 1860 from Germany. John and Emilia (Keil) Schumann were newlyweds when they arrived and had maybe their first three children in Peewaukee before moving on to Iowa (LeMars) about 1870. 2. Hiram H. STONE and his wife settled in Waukesha in the 1860s. I think that he ran a grocery or general store there. His son Hiram W. took over running the business when his father got older. Other children were - Milton, Emily, Jennie and Abner. Milton had a son Frank who married Katherine SIGURDSON who immigrated to Wisconsin from Iceland in 1874 with her father, Simon and his wife.
