    1. Roll Call Waukesha
    2. Bobbie
    3. I am interested in finding anyone who is also researching William Penn and Mary Cassey Collins from Mukwonago, Waukesha, WI, from about 1860 on. William Penn Collins was the first doctor in the town of Mukwonago, I have been told by the Mukwonago Historical Society. I have more info to share with anyone who is looking for info on this family. Thanks, Bobbie

    1. Rev. George Silver?
    2. nancy
    3. Greetings! Well, this roll call has me up and running again. :-) I think I asked this once a long time ago, but has anyone ever run across the name Rev. George Silver in conjunction with Waukesha? He was a preacher there in 1849. I do not know his denomination, but the likely possibilities (in order) are Presbyterian, Methodist, Episcopalian, or Mormon. The Historical Museum does not have any information on him, so he might not have been around very long. Which leads me to another question--is anyone aware of any Mormon population in Waukesha County during that (1840-60) timeframe? There is a very remote possibility that my ancestors were LDS for a time, since the man whom I think is my gggrandfather's brother indeed was. I haven't checked into this seriously at an FHC yet, but if it is so, it will make me *very* happy (for obvious reasons). :-) Thanks, Nancy in Colorado

    1. Roll Call - Look up offer
    2. Hi Everybody, I live in Waukesha County and am a volunteer for "Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness" (RAOGK) and as such, I am willing to do birth, death, and marriage lookups at the county courthouse. The county has birth records from 1860, death records from 1872 and marriage records from 1846. I can transcribe the information in the records and email it back to you at no cost. If you prefer to have a copy of the actual record, the county charges $7.00 If you are interested in a look up, please send me as much information (names, dates, possible spelling variations, parents, etc...) as you have to help me identify your ancestor. Also, please be patient with me. I have 3 school aged children and it's more difficult for me to get to the courthouse in the summer when they are not at school. You might want to visit the RAOGK website (http://raogk.rootsweb.com). There are volunteers all across the country helping out- of- towners find records on their ancestors. There are even people who will photograph or videotape tombstones for you at no cost (other than reimbursement of expenses). I have no Wisconsin ancestors myself but through RAOGK, I have received invaluable information from volunteers in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. If you have the time, please consider volunteering for your county. More reseachers are needed! Joyce

    1. Re: What county is Oshkosh in
    2. Oshkosh is in Winnebago County. After years of reading maps with a magnifying glass, trying to discern what county they were in, I found this web site where you enter the name of the town and the state and get the county!!!! It is certainly on my list of favorites now. It lists schools, lakes, etc--towns are called "populated" places and I must say it is a very comprehensive list! http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form HAPPY HUNTING!!
