    1. Re: List of Catholic Churches in Waukesha Co
    2. FOR DOUG: The History of Waukesha County (Western Historical Association, publ.; Chicago, Illinois, 1880."History of Towns", p. 729-94.) doesn't mention early Catholic churches in either Delafield or Summit townships. Do you have a specific location (i.e. Post Office, City, Village, etc.) and/or time period in mind? Catholic parishes in townships near to Delafield and Summit townships: Genesee: St. Paul's, ca. 1860s-70s Merton: St. John's ca. 1840s Oconomowoc: St. Catherine's (Monterey), ca. 1840s; St. Jerome's (O'woc), ca. 1840s Pewaukee: St. Mary's, ca. 1868 Waukesha: St. Joseph's, ca. 1844 Additional info available at: Waukesha County Churches: http://members.aol.com/lakehist/church.htm Waukesha County Township Locations: http://members.aol.com/lakehist/locations.htm - Sue Ellen

    3. The answer to questions about Catholic congregations would be to call the historian of the relevant diocese. I would start with the Milwaukee diocese or archdiocese, whichever it is, and they will tell you what to do next. Most dioceses have an archive and some even have an historian who can help you. 2. I can give you those that are listed in the Yellow Pages of the Waukesha County Telephone Directory, if that would help. Those are not listed in the phone directory we get here in Brookfield. I would guess that a phone call to the first listing, the archdiocese office, would get you the rest. Sorry I can't help you more. Am going to try to find a web site that has them and if so, will let you know. Bob of Brookfield

    2. Is there a list of Catholic churches in Waukesha Co. Specifically Summit Twn. and/or Delafield? The church list I found on the Waukesha Co. Web site was devoid of Catholic churches. Thanks Doug

    3. Thanks to Ellen - we have an update to the cemetery page and that includes an alpha and a township listing. And best of all she has transcribed the Oak Hill Cemetery and did all the html for me. Thank you Ellen!! Scott Cantwell Meeker , has sent some Civil War Soldiers for the Civil War Page. Also check out his 15th Wisconsin page. Thanks Scott!! We have a recording of the Pauper's Cemetery and pictures of the monuments there sent by Bonnie and many photos of Waukesha County contributed by Molly. I'm working on these - so watch for them to come online soon. Got a little backed up with my computer problems - but hopefully we are on a roll again. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwaukes/indice.html Jan Waukesha County Coordinator

    1. Welsh of Waukesha County
    2. For those of you who are researching people with Welsh surnames from Waukesha County, I have completed my work, entitled "The Welsh Pioneers of Waukesha County", which now comprises 154 pages. There are over 3000 people in this work, which begins with the emigration of 1840 and runs through the 1920 Census. Many family groups are assembled in this work. If you have Welsh names, or in some cases, Cornish names that you want looked up, please contact me. If you don't know what a Welsh name is--if it doesn't sound German or Russian, and it is from Waukesha County, it is probably Welsh. In any event, ask me anyway, and I will look it up. My file runs some 6000 lines in Excel format, and I have much information on each individual. David Jones, Pecatonica, Illinois
