    1. [WIWAUKES] 1870 Census lookup request
    2. Colleen Lill
    3. I haven't been able to locate my ancestor, Nicholas Getman, on the 1870 census for Waukesha. If anyone has access to this census or has an index, would you be willing to do a lookup for me please? I'm needing Nicholas Getman and his wife Jane M Jones; his age about 52 yrs and hers about age 51. Both were born in NY. I appreciate any assistance that anyone can provide. Thanks, Colleen Lill Some people hear the music we hear and understand the sound of words unspoken.

    3. Penny, et al. The site is listed(and has for some time) on the Waukesha Gen WebSite. It is located in the "Waukesha County "Roots" Personal Web Sites" http://rootsweb.com/~wiwaukes/websites.html I guess that is the problem when a site starts to get large, it is difficult to find everything. 3. That is the same problem I have had with my site -- just too much to find each thing easily. (I hope mine will be more easily navigated with these improvements) But we are really enjoying and getting a lot out of the many wonderful additions you're making to the Waukesha County site. I do notice I don't link back to the Waukesha site, either -- can I do that now? Thanks for helping me find this -- you know my orienteering skills are not the best! 2. Penny Ford
    3. I have made some improvements to our family website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~genjournalz/~genjournalz.index.html New index pages will help you find information about our family in Brookfield and Wauwatosa, including information on their immigration, settlement and daily life. Many neighbors and friends are mentioned in the diary entries of Cora Bradee. There is also an extensive section on Kreis Greifenberg, Pomerania, from which many Waukesha - area families emigrated in the 1800's. I am afraid that for some reason the Waukesha County genweb site has not yet listed this website -- list members who find it interesting might let the Milwaukee and Waukesha webmasters know. Thanks for taking a look. Penny Ziemer Ford Denver

    3. Hello All, I have been real busy over the past week getting more stuff on line. Here is the list: I added a bunch more obits sent in by Lenora. I added a few more names to the surname registry. Because the front page was getting very long and somewhat slow loading, I moved the resources and links to it's own page. I added a bunch more links to that page for your reference. I added a Wisconsin's Towns page, which is a listing of Towns in Wisconsin and their county from a 1895 Map. I added the casualties for the Vietnam Conflict and Korean War to the Military section. I also completed adding the Land Patents for the county. That consisted of about 4000 entries of those that first purchased county land from the Government. I added a list of names from a microfiche I just bought from ebay. It is the 1848-49 Milwaukee City Directory. Many of the Waukesha County families originated or had ties to Milwaukee County. If you see a name you are interested in, let me know. As soon as I get the microfiche I will do a look-up for you. I am now working on St. Paul's Cemetery Menomonee Falls (#65) and hope to have that online tomorrow. That should keep you busy for a while, if not, there will be more coming your way real soon. 3. I am looking for some information about a Dr. Nixon, who seems to have lived and worked in a large stone house on a corner of Brookfield Rd. just outside of the city of Brookfield. I guess this was in the first half of the twentieth century. Our Bradee family used "Doc Nixon". My dad's cousin tells us that the house is still there (??) Penny Ziemer Ford Denver

    1. [WIWAUKES] DIETRICH, Lenger, Linger, Glesius, Michels, Marnetz
    2. Dr. Andrew Petta
    3. DIETRICH, Lenger, Linger, Glesius, Michels, Marnetz Is there any chance that some of your ancestors settled in Southeastern Wisconsin? I am related to aCatholic DIETRICH line...the DIETRICH line goes back to Christian Lenger and Elizabeth Glesius. They were my immigrant couple from the Trier area of Germany. This couple came to Milwaukee, settling 1st in the Township of Greenfield, then in the Granville area of Milwaukee County. One of their children (Margaret) married a DIETRICH...but we do not know who, where or when..we do not know where she and her are buried..or where they attended Church. Margaret LENGER was a sister to my Christian LENGER/LINGER who was born in 1838 near the Trier area of Germany. Christian married Eva MICHELS--who was born in Thienesville/Mequon area. They married at St. Anthony's in what was Fussville (just south of Menomonee Falls). It is very likely that Margaret attended St. Martin's Catholic Church which was on Appleton Avenue--now no longer in existance--only the cemetery survives--and that is in a very poor state. Then, perhaps later attended at St. Anthony's in Fussville. Margaret would have been born about 1836. 1860 Milwaukee County Census, West Granville, Vol 3 page 2: Christian Linger aged 22, born in Prussia Laborer on farm of Louis Marnetz Christian also lived in Jefferson, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, possibly for a short time in Aztalan, Jefferson County, Wisconsin; Oconomowoc, Waukesha County Wisconsin; then returned to Milwaukee where he died November 03, 1910. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin. The younger siblings of Margaret and Christian LENGER, stayed for a brife time in Aztalan, then moved to Stearns County, Minnesota. There were Dederich's in Fussville, Waukesha County, Wisconsin and Belgium, Washington County, Wisconsin I am hoping that something in here may sound familiar... Looking forward to hearing from you, Susan apetta@netwurx.net

    3. Some of you may be interested in a new "addition" of the diary of my great-aunt, Cora Bradee, from December, 1923, just added to our family website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~genjournalz/~genjournalz.index.html Just page down a bit to the "New" pages, and you'll find the link to her diary for the Christmas Season. Cora's family lived on Bradee Road near Capitol Drive. You'll also find a link that will show you her family's farm on the 1914 Brookfield plat map. Hope you enjoy this diary entry, and the other we have up so far (January 1923). You will find references to many neighbors in Brookfield and Wauwatosa, as well as to activities at the Trinity Ev. Church in Brookfield (where Cora and her parents and Sommer grandparents are buried) and the (now-closed) Friedens Ev. Church in Old Butler, Wauwatosa. Penny Ziemer Ford Denver, Colorado
