Dear Listers, For those of you who regularly visit the Waukesha GenWeb Site, I want you to know that the URL has changed. I apologize that there was no prior warning. You will still be able to access the main URL and a few other links at the old location, but the majority of the content has been moved to the new URL. There is a link on the main URL (called Resources) that will lead you to the new site, if you forget where it is. If you have any pages bookmarked, such as the What's New page, you will need to change it. The new server will provide a more stable environment on which the site is hosted. (sometimes I have trouble uploading pages at rootsweb). The site will permanently be housed at this url now....so please bookmark it for future reference http://www.linkstothepast.com/waukesha. I also have started a Milwaukee site to better service those Milwaukee researchers out there. Please visit http://www.linkstothepast.com/milwaukee. I hope to add to this site as regularly as I do Waukesha. I have them listed separately, plus they are relisted in the corresponding cemetery if known or the name was put into Cem X for future sorting. I cross referenced a 1937 transcription of Oak Hill Cem, Brookfield, with what I had walked this last year. There are a few discrepencies and a few added people whose graves have long disappeared. Happy researching all! Ellen- Waukesha County--www.linkstothepast.com/waukesha Milwaukee County--www.linkstothepast.com/milwaukee
Can anyone help me find the will and probate of my Greatgrandmother, Mary Cassey Collins who died in Oct. 1903. I have been told she left a will and it went through probate. Can anyone tell me where copies might be kept and how to get a copy? I was told by my father-in-law, that there was TB in Waukesha Co., cows about 1906 - 1907. His brother, Andrew Stigler, contracted TB at that time, and died. It was thought that he acquired it from drinking milk in a Waukesha tavern. He didn't drink alcohol, so drank milk instead. After that happened, the Stigler family herd was checked for TB and found to be ok. It was the first herd in Waukesha Co. to be tested for TB, and found to be negative. This was the Frederick Stigler farm in New Berlin. Mary E. Stigler

There was an epidemic quite a few years back of mad cow disease. This disease isn't a new one. It hit a lot of farmers -- I can't remember when it was though. I remember reading it in one of the Post Crescent (Appleton, WI) newspapers when I was looking for old obits. Vikki

They also have records from the Hansen funeral home and the Weber funeral home. Their records go back as far as 1908. They keep a book listing the records in their possession. Call to the funeral home at 262-547-4035. If possible, they will check their book while you are holding on the line. Checking any actual records may take longer. This information was provided by Tina from Randle-Dabble. The address is 1110 S. Grand Ave. Waukesha, WI 53187. They are very nice people to work with for both funerals and genealogy. Yes to the first - Randle-Dable Funeral Home Inc. is still located at 1110 S. Grand Avenue in Waukesha with the phone number of 1-262-547-4035. Sorry, I don't know the answer to the 2nd questions but would presume they would still have all records as most funeral homes do keep their plus the forerunners records also. Bob of Brookfield
Is the Randal - Dabble Funeral home on 1110 S. Grand Ave. formerly known as the JK Randal & son funeral home? If so does anyone know if they may still hold records from around 1916. Thanks Deanna

Deanna, No--to my knowledge it closed-?? in the 1970's??? Maybe earlier. My grandmother, Lorraine Ackerman, nee LINGER, saved a lot of memorabilia from that brewery--always made me wonder if we were related to someone there--or just what her attachment to the brewery was. Susan
My ggrandfather worked for Fox Head brewery in 1910, is this brewery still in existence today? Thanks Deanna
Go to: http://www.jsonline.com/onwisconsin/music/best/beer07070600.asp for a little info on the Fox Head brewery building and how to see it today.
No, the breweries of Waukesha are long gone. My grandfather worked for another Waukesha brewery, Weber. Two other comments, though: I beleive that there is (used to be?) a Waukesha brewpub that resurrected the Foxhead name. The Waukesha Public Library used to have a permanent(?) display of local breweriana, including items from Weber and Fox Head. --- Desertrose3228@aol.com wrote: > > My ggrandfather worked for Fox Head brewery in 1910, is this brewery still in > > existence today? > > Thanks > Deanna > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi, Just wanted to let everyone on the list know that I have arrived back in Washington State safely and you can reach me at: snokes@tscnet.com Thank you for taking time to contact me. I wish to apologize for taking so long to return a message to you. I left my home in Washington in March 2001 and had an extended stay in Wisconsin due to health/medical problems of my parents. My mother passed away in June and I was needed to assist with the estate and oversight of my father's medical conditions, including 3 surgeries between September and November. I am currently trying to catch up on 3900 e-mails which accumulated over my absence and cleaning and re-organizing my home. Please be assured that I am very interested in in sharing family history information with you and look forward to being in contact with you. Sincerely, Susan L. Hello List, Just wanted to update you on the new things being added to the Waukesha site. I don't always post what I have done here, so please be sure to check the What's New page to see what additions I have made. I keep that page up-to-date. http://rootsweb.com/~wiwaukes/whatsnew.html I have a couple new sections on the site. 1) I added Waukesha County Delayed births. This is an index of births before Oct. 1907 but recorded 365 days or more after the birth. There are over 350 names listed, so if you haven't been able to find your lost ancestor's birth record, this may be the place. http://rootsweb.com/~wiwaukes/birthsdel.html 2) I added a Milwaukee Links Section. Since many of the Waukesha Residents have ties to Milwaukee, I thought it appropriate to put the information I find somewhere, so it can be accessed. On this page are offsite links to Cemetery databases, listing of delayed births for Milwaukee County, and some other links. You can get to that page by going to http://www. rootsweb.com/~wiwaukes/milwaukee.html 3) I added a new cemetery online, Oconomowoc Town #129 http://rootsweb.com/~wiwaukes/129.html 4) There have been miscellaneous tidbits of information added to the Family section. See the What's New page to see the surnames that have been added. That is all for now. Ellen- Waukesha County
