I am researching the DINGMAN surname and wonder if anyone on this list has access to the above named records. I would like to know if there were any marriages for the Dingman family recorded in Wisconsin. The Dingman family lived in Waukesha in the mid to late 1800's. Thanks for any help. Looking for where great-great grandmother (Lyda May Peterson , maiden name ?? was Allagad? ) and great aunt ( Christine Peterson , died as child ) are buried. GG grandfather was Frands Christian Pedersen name changed here in US to Frank Christian Peterson. He came from Denmark, listed in 1880 census He was a blacksmith. He married Lyda, had 3 children by 1887. I know that he also worked as a blacksmith. My grandmother said her older sister died in an epidemic. By about 1893 he ( Peterson ) had remarried Emma Frances Hanson also from Denmark. In around 1895 this family moved to Springer NM. 1896 they had a son. Had his own blacksmith shop there. Then again about 1906, moved to Deming, NM. Had his own shop until he died in 1928. I am looking for info on first wife and older daughter ---- anything. Looking for family on gggrandmother. The spelling on her maiden name came from original SS app on grandmother. Haven't been able to find more. Found the his family ( had brother ) in Denmark also. Any info would help. I have looked a lot already with no results. Thanks, B Clark
It would be a help to have approximate dates for their time in Brookfield. I have not seen them on platt maps as landowners, but I just might not have noticed. Do you think that they came to join family? A church name -- perhaps in a baptismal record? -- would be a key to finding out more about their life in Brookfield. Prior to 1874, civil records can be scanty for the area. Ths is the family of my ex and my children and grandchildren. We visited the old homestead many years ago even before the mentioned barn burned to the ground. Picked up many of the wrought iron nails from the barn. My ex mother-in-law was Alice Betts who married Charles Burdon. There were four children born to that marriage. Interesting that the Coulter name shows up. I also have some Coulter info from Washington Co., NY from which my Robertson ancestors came. My Robertson's came to Cambridge, NY in 1784 from Scotland. The Coulter's I found there came from Ireland. Now I'm headed for your netsite. Hopefully to find more links to the puzzle. Any blanks I might help you with? Charles Coulter

The site is located at www.linkstothepast.com/waukesha. I am not sure which family member you are looking for, but this is a bio sketch on Jonathan. JONATHAN BETTS, farmer, Sec. 33; P. O. Eagle; born in Elsen, Norfolk, England, September 1813; came to America in 1830, and, after four years spent in Rome, N. Y., removed to La Salle Co., Ill.; engaged in stage-driving in Illinois and Indiana about three years; settled in Eagle July 12, 1838, in company with F. Draper, they buying and farming 240 acres together till 1841, when Mr. Betts, took eighty acres on the east side of the road; he has since bought eighty acres of Government land. These were about the first men to locate in these parts, and, as they had six yoke of cattle, soon became known throughout the town, Mr. B. driving breaking team about five years and turning over thousands of acres of Wisconsin virgin soil; his first furrow turned on Sec. 28, and his first twenty acres of wheat sown among the burr oaks which sparsely covered their claim. Feb. 17, 1844, he married Miss Lucina Ewer, a native of Marcellus, Wayne Co., N. Y., he having previously lived with the D! raper family in their log house. When Mr. Betts built his barn, he bought the lumber from the first large consignment, ever sent over the M. & P. du C. R. R. Mr. and Mrs. B. have seven living children-Mary J., Susan A., Alice M., Melissa A., Charles M., Fremont A. and Daisy L.; the elder son, a carpenter by trade, married; Dec. 30, 1879, Miss Jennie Coulter, a native of the State of New York and a resident of Troy Center; the younger son is also on the old homestead, and all are Republicans in politics. This Jonathan is buried on Oak Grove Cemetery and his buried next to his wife. Hope this Helps. Ellen-
The Milwaukee County Historical Society 910 N. Old World Third Street Milwaukee, WI 53203 414-273-8288 has a great deal of information on the Werner Trimborn Family including some pictures. Werner and his sons operated a lime business from 88th and Grange in what is now Greendale, WI. The quarry and a number of the old buildings have been restored and are now part of the Milwaukee County Park System. As adults, August Tromborn had responsibility for the lime operations in Greendale and Leonard, his brother, conducted the sales and related business in Milwaukee.
