Moore Norissa (Strong) Moore One child that I know of: Rial or Rilen who married Phoebe Elizabeth Bartlett. ??? and Norissa were living in the Oconomowoc area in 1866. They may have been there since the 1840s. The 1880 census shows Norissa living with her son Rilen and his wife Elizabeth. They were originally from NY. Who was the father? Were there more children? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Colleen

I was lucky to obtain a copy of a Registration of Marriage for an ancestor married in Menomonee Falls and it gives plenty of information but here is the mystery. There is a section before the husband's name for "color". The space on the certificate is marked but I am unable to determin what it means. It looks like a ditto, but there is nothing above it except the word "color". Does this mean "yes"? There is nothing beside the wife's name. We are told that there is some Native American in this family line but haven't made any connections. Does anyone have a similar registration? What do you see there? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

John Salentine who married Anna Maria Gemund had 1st child, a daughter: Gertrude. She is my connection to the Salentines. Not her brother (Joseph) John, who married Angeline(Angela) Puetzer. There is very confusing information at familysearch.com I got so many versions of where John Salentine was born, and where his children were born, that it confused me. There was a great 1880 census on the Mathias Salentine family, that seems to match up nicely with the info. I had. Check it out, maybe all the "salentine" researchers, can figure the names and dates out. There was some information about a John Salentine, being born in Alsace-Lorraine, Prussia/France. I'm looking into this as a possibility. There is an "Alsace-Lorraine" list. Take care, Cindy
FYI the original message on the Salentines was posted on the Waukesha message board. If you want to contact Patricia Salentine Cumber who posted the message you need to e-mail her or reply on the message board. She doesn't know you repiled to her message. On every mail list it seems people who reply to the messages from the messge board on the list don't know that the original poster didn't know that their message was repiled to. At least the message from the message board created messages on the list instead of the usual messages from the board. I am a descendant of the Gaspars/Gaspards of Waukesha. Allan Campbell
