I recently was sent information about family members buried at the Wauwatosa Cemetery. In the plot with my 3x great grandparents BREDE are buried the KERBER family. I am unable to find this family in the Milwaukee County or Waukesha County census for 1880. My great aunt knew the KERBERS and mentions Ida Kerber and her husband (I am pretty sure this is William, buried together at Wauwatosa) along with Ida BORTZ and her family coming to the Brede farm in Brookfield in 1922 or 23. But I am not certain if the Kerbers are family members, as I suspect they may have been. This is important to me because I am trying to discover where my 3x great grandparents Carl FREDERICK BREDE and his wife Fredericke BREDE, geb. EREDIA / IREDI, both born in Mecklenburg Schwerin, lived in the late 1870's (when Mr. Brede died) and on into 1891 (when his wife died.) Any information on this family would be appreciated. hi, The entry for Jongeneel in the Waukesha Freeman seems to be a double copy. 7 May 1908, page 8 and 14, were both the same single sentence. Miss Nettie Jongeneel of Baldwin has arrived in the city for the summer.

I'm not sure what year she was born, 1904 could be correct. She died in May 1985. Was married to Russell Edward (or Edwin) Burss. Her son (my father) was Russell William Burss. I do not recall hearing about an uncle named William who was originally from Canada, however I do know that there were relatives that lived in northern Wisconsin - I believe the City was Thorpe. Russell E's Brother was named Lee - lived in Milwaukee area and I know there were some other relatives living in or near the EauClaire, Wisconsin area in the 1970's

Linda, There is a Henry Hamm listed in Memoirs of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin II by Jerome Anthony Watrous, 1909, pg. 359. Have you had a chance to view that to see if there are any additional clues? I have tried everything trying to find an obit for my Ludwig Hamm. He was born in 1799 in Hessen darmstadt, came to Us in 1848(nothing on this either) He lived in Greenfield, he shows up on census records as living in Waukesha Co., Wis. He died in 9-23-1884. His first wife Catharine Seidel Hamm, died in 1858, second wife Elizabeth Staack died in 1868 and third wife Lisette died in 4-1888. Does anyone have any ideas where I should go now. I have been looking for info on him since 1980. I have marriage record for second marriage, naturalization papers but no obit or what ship he came over on. I tried going threw his kids one of whom was a policeman and justice of the peace in Milwaukee 1902/07(Charles Hamme) but nothing on him either, not even a death date. Krista, Thank you for checking for me, I appreciate your help! I must admit when I saw your last name I became rather excited. I thought perhaps the photography studio had been a family business and you were a descendant of the original owner. Glad you cleared that up. > Maybe someone can check the city directories, if you have any idea of the > years? I am guessing the photograph I have could have been taken as early as 1888, but more likely the early 1890's. Lorrie
I did check, but have found no reason to believe that it still exists. Maybe someone can check the city directories, if you have any idea of the years? Krista Mann (no relation to the photography studio)

The Homestead Tavern was on Greenfield Avenue, on the corner of one of the major north / south streets, I think -- Sunnyslope, maybe. I didn't realize that you were connected to the Leistikows -- or I have forgotten. I expect that this was one of the taverns in which my grandfather played with his band.
