Young, 94, of Whitewater, formerly of Richwood, W.Va., died Oct. 28, 1997, in Mercy Health System, Janesville, after a long illness. She received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of North Dakota and was a former Nicholas County, W.Va., schoolteacher. Surviving: son, James S. Young Jr. of Whitewater; daughters, Ruth Peters of Pinellas Park, Fla., Joan Rich of Brookfield; brother, Robert Johnson of Dallas; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood, with the Rev. Timothy Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
