(Matilda's maiden name and married name were Williams.) After her husband, Asa P Williams' death in 1863, Matilda moved from Ogle Co., Illinois to Elkhorn, Wisconsin. The 1870 census shows Matilda in Elkhorn with Edward, Joseph, Mary, Lettie and Angelina, Ed, Joe and Mary are listed as children of Asa and Matilda on Asa's Civil War records. I suspect that Lettie and Angelina were adopted by Matilda. Perhaps the reason she moved to Elkhorn(?) In 1880 Matilda is living in Monroe Co., Wisconsin with Joe and Angelina. I have no idea what became of Mary and Lettie. Death? Marriage? My Williams family is said to be related to the family of Israel Williams who founded Williams Bay. Matilda's father, John Wiliams, was born in England so I suspect any relativity would be through Asa P Williams of whom I have little information. He was born 1822/3 in Canada/Mass. Was living on Kelley's Island, Erie, Ohio in 1850. Byron, Ogle, Illinois in 1860. Died in Nasville, TN in 1863. Matilda was a Congregationalist.
