Suspect they were brothers and heard several McGill's lived there in the 1940's. Ralph McGill married Elunice Van Valen and they had several children while John lived alone. Ralph's son, Henry, was born 1848 and served in Wisc Vol unit thruout the Civil War. Any information on the McGill clan, Henry's Civil War unit history and/or Van Valen's would be greatly appreciated.

    3. I was just reading your query and looked at the 1860 census you were talking about. We don't have a Spring Hill in Walworth County, that township is Spring Prairie to keep your data correct. I found Ralph McGill okay, but didn't find any John McGill on "next farm". I looked at the page before and the page after, too. Possibly there are different 1860 census listings? I was just curious is all. But Spring Prairie is where he is at in 1860, with the Honey Creek post office.
