    3. Dear Patti, I have never been to Wisconsin, but I have many ancestors from Spring Prairie and Lafayette, beginning with my grandmother and going back several generations. They settled the area in the 1840's. For my research I have used the two county histories which have sections describing the towns and also some sections about organizing the town governments, churches, etc., (Beckwith & Western Historical). The Walworth County history by the Western Historical Company printed in 1882 has a history of each town in Walworth County. I have a diary of one ancestor from Spring Prairie and a description of the house she lived in--the Wylie Farm in Spring Prairie, and other family materials. Besides the two histories, I have found the local cemeteries an excellent resource, as well as the Wisconsin Death Index (Ancestry and also at the Salt Lake Library), the databases on the "People of Burlington and Vicinity" has lots of Walworth County people included (online). The early newspapers in Walworth County are a treasure trove of information, as are the early town vital records located at the courthouses. Local church records also have yielded good information. Early maps designating the ownership of land are helpful. I still have many townships to go - but could really use some help with the townships whose resources I know little about. If anyone has done research in the following townships - please drop me an e-mail and let me know what resources you used and how user friendly they were. WHITEWATER LA GRANGE TROY EAST TROY RICHMOND SUGAR CREEK LAFAYETTE SPRING PRAIRIE GENEVA LYONS SHARON LINN BLOOMFIELD For those of you who are VERY familiar with a township, maybe you could help write something up???? This is a big project, but ultimately the information can help LOTS of researchers in the future. Please send me an e-mail as soon as possible - deadline for the next issue is Jan 10th.
