Harvest Dinner to benefit Matheson Memorial Library expansion project Tickets are available now for the 2nd annual Harvest Dinner and Silent Auction, Thurs., Nov. 6, 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Elkhorn. Advance tickets are $10 per adult, $8 per child (12 and younger) or senior (60 and older), and $5 for children 5 and younger – they may be purchased at the library or from library Trustees. A limited number of tickets will be sold at the door for $12, $10 and $5, and carry-out containers will be available. Stowell's will cater a turkey dinner with all the trimmings and dessert. The Silent Auction features a wide variety of items and services donated by area businesses. All proceeds from the dinner and auction benefit Matheson Memorial Library’s expansion project. Silent Auction bidders will get the chance to buy four quarters of beef from the Walworth County Grand Champion Steer, donated by People’s Bank and processed by Elkhorn Locker Service. Each quarter weighs over 300 pounds, and bidding will start at $300 per quarter. The auction offers something for everyone, including an American flag flown in Operation Iraqi Freedom, dinner and brunch at the Abbey, a stay at Ye Olde Manor House B&B, tickets to the Milwaukee Rep, crafts by local artisans, a day’s golf at Evergreen, children’s toys, home décor items, and health and beauty products. The evening will also include a presentation by the City to the family of former director Valerie Lapicola, who died in September. Funds raised will be donated to the project in her memory. Last year’s dinner was so popular that library staff ran out of tickets at the door. The library raised over $3,000 for the project and hopes to exceed that this year.
