I am searching the information on my great grandmother Mae Henreetta (sp) Lewis 1875-1895 sorry about the big gap. Mae Lewis was adopted from a reservation or so the story goes. It's told that she was full Sioux (after research could be Chippewa or a few of the others prominent in the area). but as the story goes Sioux. She was born and or adopted in Fontana ( or there abouts) Walworth County,Wi. She was Married to John Henry Gors and lived in McHenry County. She was also married last Jordon or similar spelling. I am looking for the roots of her adoption and the family name to hopefully unchain this web. Thank you in advance if you should you dare to crack this one open. Im sure it will be a great challenge.
