News Release: Trip to Area Resource Planned The Rock County Genealogical Society host special programs to encourage and assist with researching family trees. On Saturday, July 21, 2007 at trip is planned to Travel to the Milwaukee County Public Library. Cost and Invitation is Free and Open to the Public. The Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) is the depository for many special collections, including the Great Lakes Marine Collection, State and Federal government records (Federal since 1866) and US Geological Survey maps, charts and reports. MPL has an extensive genealogical holdings, including Family Histories, Periodicals and Census materials. The historic MLP 1898 building is located at 814 West Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI. Car-pooling is planned from the St. Mark Lutheran Church at 2129 Mount Zion Avenue in Janesville (our Society meeting location), departing at 9 a.m. and returning by 5 p.m. Meals are the responsibility of the individual, but vending machines are available at the MPL. We would like at least one full car and a volunteer to drive. Please pre-register by July 1st to coordinate the transportation and not be left behind.
