My ggrandmother, Nina Kathryn Wylie, attended "girls' college" at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. My understanding was that it was some sort of "finishing school" for girls. She was born in 1868 and was married in 1887. She graduated from the school prior to her marriage, so I believe the date would be approximately 1885/6, when she was 17 or 18 years old. Since her family lived in Spring Prairie, it is possible that she boarded at the school while attending it, although she could have lived with a family in Lake Geneva while attending.
